Big college and small placements

College is good you can say. Teaching as I have mentioned is below average standard. College management is total bullshit, only motive is to extract money in every possible way. By the way the college Chancellor T.R pacchamuttu is in jail right now due to some donation issues. So one can clearly understand.

I had given SRMJEEE, which an entrance exam for this particular college. After you clear the exam you are given a date for counseling. You need to appear on that particular date to the venue.

Subjects given and course structure is good as one would expect. But as far as research is concerned I am not sure whether the course structure was enough for that. But one is concerned about an standard engineering curriculum and syllabus, then it's quite good as far as I am concerned.

Till 2011 there was nothing as such. But students would go for internship on their own in semester holidays, and that didn't include any stipend.

I would say a number of companies would visit the campus. But the placement is bad compared to other institutions of same level. mostly the companies that come are IT companies. In 2011 not a single telecom company had visited the campus. They show the placement as 100? placement in their brochure, which is totally wrong. I am not even talking about ineligible studends. In 2011 60-65? of eligible students got placed.( Eligibility means not a single arrear at the time of placement). As per the package is concerned, I remember L&T giving a package of around 6 lakhs/annum. Few of my friends who got placed in companies like Hcl and TCS got salary of around 17k in hcl and 21k in TCS per month. Even there were companies which gave 14k - 15k per month.

There were few cultural and technical festivals that were conducted and most of them were big. Some were conducted for whole of the college like Milan, Aarush, Electic etc. Many other department wise tech fests goes on in small and big levels. Other fest like adruino day etc are carried out.

Fee structure is quite expensive.Various departments have various fee structures. Since I was from telecom department. I would detail the fee structure of telecom department. The fee was 1.5 lakhs/year for telecom department and hostel fees was 60k per year at that time.Examination fee was 300 rupees per paper. And if someone is detained due to lack of attendance, they had to pay 10,000 rupees per paper. So a good way to earn money.

Scholarship is provided to those people who has 90% and above in their intermediate. Yes loans are available, that the normal educational loan.

Campus life is ok is what I can say. There are various extracurricular activities for both boys and girls which includes various sports and others things as well. Not very sure about the gender ratio. But the number of males would be more. There are no such racism or anything else. But one thing that I felt very awkward was if some even makes a small mistake. Then some teachers used to " this is not north India" though it seemed a very illiterate comment from so called literate and mediocre teachers. So this thing existed in their minds. But not all of them did the same.

Hostel was good. Toilets and rooms were cleaned everyday. WiFi services were not up to the mark. Only two lifts operating in huge hostels of ten floors. Food taste may vary from person to person. I would say the food was average. If someone is staying outside, it would cost them the same or less. For me I stayed in a two bed room house with 5 of my friends. The rent was 9k. The good part is you can eat whatever you want with same expenditure.

College seniors can be helpful to some extent.few of my friends has got help from the seniors but I had no such experience.

Exams and Labs were quite good. Exams were conducted in a proper way and labs were equipped properly. During our time there was three internal exams and semester exam. The marks in internal exam was too much which is not good, is what I feel. Most teachers threatened about this,it was like they had 50 marks in their hand. It was like power given to them. Funny though. I felt this was a bullshit system. But exams were conducted in a genuine manner. Serious labs were conducted.

The quality of teaching was not up to the mark. In a particular department there will be few good teachers but most of them lack in knowledge and few of them are really worst, which is not expected from a reputed college. Few teachers came with pieces of papers with notes written on it. They wrote it on the board and told the students to take it down.
