Remarks

Not a single word comes to my mind that talks negative about my alma-mater. Even a single simple trivial issue from students was addressed immediately the entire campus is highly disciplined with timings, dress code and code of conduct for both students and faculties a wonderful life time experience.

Entrance Preview

Entrance Exam : PGCET, now PES has scaled to a new paradigm as an autonomous Private University and it conducts its own Entrance Exam PESSAT. PES ranked among TOP 5 Colleges in Karnataka State.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

At the time of my studies, PES was affiliated to VTU, Belgaum. There was no autonomy in the syllabus, but we were provided guidance by faculties who were scholars and Doctrates with rich experience. We were directly involved in research work undertaken by our guides. We also had a lot of scope in presenting papers. Now, at PES University, it has autonomy in the syllabus, which will help the students to keep abreast with the industry.

Internships Opportunities

The companies has PES on top of its priority list. Most of the companies wanted the cream from the campus and hence wanted to be the first to visit our campus. A very proud feeling. We had Internship program in the final semester. The list of companies is pretty huge, and most of the students got through the written tests and interviews and bagged the offers. Most of the students who got internship offers were converted to jobs.

Placement Experience

5

As mentioned above, the list of companies is very huge. Most of the MNCs like Infosys, Wipro, IBM, CISCO, Nokia, Siemens, Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, Mindtree, L&T Infotech and many many more visited the campus. The placement record has always been 100% and those times, some students even had 2 more more offers. Packages range from Rs.10000 pm to Rs.50000 pm during those days. Based on the jobs and salary packages, companies were categorized as Tier-1, 2 and 3.

College Events

5

Learners had galore of opportunities at PES. Student clubs involved in Cultural activities, most popular "Atmatrisha" and annual cultural event. A club for Student magazine, Sports, depatmental fests and competitions. We had organized an Inter-collegiate State-level IT fest "IT-Vedanta", the most wonderful experience on campus. We worked day and night for preparations, designing banners, brochures, inviting guests, framing events, planning schedule, getting sponsors (though college also sponsored the maximum chunk) etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees is feasible for those who get admitted through PGCET and counselling. It was a little expensive for those who get admitted on Management quota. But, whatever the fees paid, it would be worth spending all the years of the course duration in the campus with a lot of fun, learning and development activities.

Fees and Financial Aid

The top 20 students of the class were given away Rs.500/- worth book coupons (cash was not considered any good idea for students). Now, at PES University, the top students are given away 20% of their fees paid as Scholarships for their performance.

Campus Life

4.5

Every department had its own student clubs which functioned under the guidance of experienced faculty. There was no gender bias in any activity.. We always had frequent Seminars, Guest Lectures, IT competitions, inter-department sports and inter-college sports etc.

Hostel Facilities

4

Though I did not opt for hostel facilities, I sometimes accompanied my friends to the hostel. I enjoyed the food provided in the mess and canteens and I also remember that the hostel mess offered a different menu for each day. Some days in a week was special for non-vegetarians.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is one of the best as I have seen it. The meets are organized very systematically on every Independence Day and Republic Day immediately after the celebrations of the National festivals. Alumni not only visit the alma-mater, they also involve in Placements, syllabus add-ons, certificate programmes, workshops and seminars. The college also felicitated alumni members who rose to greater heights in their career like enterpreneurs, IAS, IPS toppers etc.

Exam Structure

As per the VTU rules, Examinations were conducted. Question papers were provided by VTU. Now, PES University has autonomy in syllabus and Examination. Three internal examinations were conducted and the average of best of two internals were considered as internal marks with 40% weight-age. 60% weight-age was given to the annual examination conducted by VTU.

Admission

The procedure was very simple after the PGCET Examination, ranks were announced. Counselling based on PGCET Ranking which gave me an option to opt for the best college from the list of colleges. I had the option to select among TOP 10 colleges due to good ranking. I also got the prospectus from the college, visited the departments and gathered information regarding syllabus, scope for students and placement records. I was very happy to know about the opportunities galore for students in the campus, which included, student clubs, Student development programs, Scholarships, involvement of students in Research works along with faculties etc. I was also mesmerized with the huge Campus, Sports complex, Gymnasium, Canteens, state of the art Labs and classrooms and a very huge library.

Faculty

4.5

Most of the faculties were dedicated to their profession. Individual attention was given towards students overall development. Every faculty was like a mentor for a set of students. Many of them were Post-Graduates or PhD holders. Many of them were pursuing their Doctoral program. They would organize Guest Lectures, industrial visits, Community Development Programs, Alumni meets, Pre-placement Training activities, workshops, seminars etc. We shared a very comfortable relations with every faculty.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are average. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 2nd semester. Some companies visit the college and offer jobs in different roles. The average package is around 3-4 LPA and the highest package depends on the company. After completing my degree, I plan to get a good job and gain experience in my field

Placements are good...lot of my friends got placed. But it even depends on individual intrests. At starting you get paid less but later on experience u can earn more. In case if placement doesn't happen you will still have the chance to explore outside.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The MCA course curriculum is well structured, relevant, and comprehensive. It covers core computer science subjects such as programming, data structures, databases, software engineering, and practical lab work, which influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a strong foundation for both real-world applications and further academic pursuits. With the support of good and experienced faculty, concepts are explained clearly through theory, practical sessions, assignments, and projects. Exams are conducted on a semester basis with internal assessments and end-semester examinations. The frequency and timing of exams are appropriate, and the difficulty level is moderate. Students who attend classes regularly and follow faculty guidance can perform well.
