Remarks
All in all I can say that DSI is one of best colleges in Bangalore and I'm proud to be a part of DSI family and also studying in such a reputed college has given me lot of exposure to different things in the real world and I'd without a doubt suggest DSI to people who ask me 'whether DSI is a good place to study and learn.
Entrance Preview
I got 75% in 2nd PUC and the cut off for BCA in DSI was 65%. So I got in easily. For BCA it's not necessary to write any entrance exam.
Course Curriculum Overview
Bachelor of computer applications (BCA) is I think by far the best course on could opt for if they're interested in coding or app development or anything related to applied computers science or if you're interested in software engineering. It's also the best option to take if you're not so sure about what is that you really want to do as BCA has Subjects like Digital electronics, Accounts and finance etc.
Internships Opportunities
The college has internship facilities but not for BCA but if you get an internship outside of the college the BCA management will completely support you with it and help you fit in classes when you can if you're working during class hours.
Placement Experience
Placements and job opportunity is excellent in DSI. I can guarantee you that because I'm still pursuing my 5th sem and I already got placed in capgemini. There are more companies to come next semester. I think around 10 students from my class are anyway placed including me.
College Events
We have inter-class sports day and also inter-department sports day which lasts upto 3 days. We have 1 major college fest where every department comes together to make it a big success. We also have individual department fests. Ours is called DYUTHI its held in even semester. MCA and BCA get together to celebrate it. We have other competitions going on through out the year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
I think the fee structure is a bit of a let off when you first look at the amount but once you see the facilities provided and the infrastructure provided I think it's guaranteed value for the money. BCA roughly comes upto 3.5 lakhs for 3 years and I think that's a pretty good deal for the quality of education and the amount exposure DSI provides.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is 50:50 I guess. And there are students from different parts of the world so we can say that there is wide diversity in students. Workshops are help frequently for students as well as teachers. There are people from different race, culture and religion and we all live in harmony. There's a strict no ragging policy in DSI and never has anything bad happened in terms of that.
Hostel Facilities
I don't know much about hostel as I stay in Bangalore itself with my family but since many of my friends stay there I've heard quite a lot about it. Security is good. There's individual rooms and also sharing and the cost varies accordingly. The north Indian food is apparently better than south Indian is what I've heard but I'm not sure about it.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are very helpful and friendly they helped us out a lot when I was a junior and now I am a senior and we try our best to help our juniors regarding subjects or fest or what ever that is they need.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is pretty well planned. It's not hectic or not totally chilled out. It's well planned to give enough time for students to prepare and have fun to some extent. We have sports and extra curricular activities which are held in between the semester.
Admission
They checked my marks and since I had more then the required cut off marks they told that I just have fill the admission form. So I did that and they collected reuqired documents like 10th marks card and TC, 12th marks card and TC and a photo ID. They asked for payment in DD form. It took like 2 days for me to complete the process.
Faculty
I can without a doubt tell that I've been blessed with the best faculty. They're all very friendly yet they know their job and where to draw lines. They are always there to help you out if and when you need any additional help or if you need extra classes they're ALWAYS ready to do so. And they all have good communication skills which is for me a big plus point because I instantly zone out if I don't find the lecturer's english speaking skills good. So I'd rate 10/10 for my faculty.
