Remarks

Good: Due to the campus being huge, we had ample space to roam around. Great fests and event. Good job opportunities Bad: Needs a revision of curriculum. Some of the newer faculty were quite rude. AND MOST IMPORTANT - Need few more working water filters please.

Entrance Preview

Having a scored a low 76 in CET, I had no scope of getting good colleges. But luckily I had taken AIEEE too in which I had scored good marks. I chose RAIT because my brother graduated from the same and he had a good review of the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course was not at par for the first 2 years, but in the 3rd and 4th year it was quite knowledgeable in terms of research and projects. We had more practical concepts in these final 2 years, so the knowledge imparted was retained. Only downside was the number of worthless assignments we had to write.

Internships Opportunities

Our college doesn't provide internship as such as a part of the curriculum, but allows the students to go on internships to other companies. Overall experience is okay in terms of getting a certificate rather than knowledge. In the internship, it was more of the learning the process they had, rather than learning the why the process was there in the first place. No stipend is provided generally.

Placement Experience

4.5

So we get placement training just after our end terms of 3rd year, as the placement process begins just after that. Yes, we get lot of placement opportunities in terms of getting a job. Only downside is getting a relevant stream job. For me, getting a job in IT sector was irrelevant after spending 4 years studying Telecom. And our college had a lot of IT jobs as such.

College Events

5

TechFests- Technical events/festival happens every semester. Events related to upcoming technology, debates, paper presentations etc Kalarag fests- happens every now and then. Marathi drama, music and arts club oraganise various competitions for the same Stamina- Annual sports festival.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is quite reasonable if compared to other colleges. But the fees hike every year is frowned upon by everyone. It was roughly around a lakh per year for us in the beginning, which eventually hiked almost 10% every year. Some of the students find it hard to pay at one go, so the college sometimes makes exceptions for the student to pay in installments(rarely though).

Fees and Financial Aid

There are scholarship facilities offered by our colleges, but only to the sc/st/nt etc classes, and not as such to ebc class(who need it the most). But later the ebc class scholarship was implemented (though it's flawed still because students fake their SEC and get it). There were other scholarships from the state and central government as well. The office staff were quite helpful in this regard to let us know about the same.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is pretty chill cause the campus is quite huuuuuuuge(extra strain on huge) and we had a international level cricket stadium in our campus. Gender ratio is pretty much balanced i'd say and due to the fact that college is in mumbai I had a batch of classmates who came from different parts of india(me being one of them) there are many extracurricular activities if you have the eagerness and enthusiasm to join any. Also the faculty is quite supportive in this regard.

Hostel Facilities

3

We don't have hostel facilities as such for engineering college in Dy patil, but there are hostels here only for medical students though. Mess food was quite worse when I had initially joined college. We had issues with the canteen regarding it's hygiene(finally lost it when one of our classmates found a cockroach in his dish). The canteen was closed down then for almost 2 years. Now a new management has taken over the mess, and thankfully it's much much better than before.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is still a work in progress. For now they're in contact via linkedin and a college portal. Seniors were quite helpful to us too in terms of getting around any difficulties we faced(of course there were exceptions to, there always is).

Exam Structure

Exam structure is basically 2 semesters per year, so that counts to 8 semesters for 4 years. In each semester we have 2 term test, a practical lab along with vivas and an end semester final exam. Now the marks scored in all the above are counted to the final score card. We also had to make projects in the 3rd and 4th year which also counted to the finals.

Admission

We had applied online for admission through the DTE online admission process. We had to upload a list of colleges we wanted to get admission to along with our scored card. My college was 3rd preference along with the preferred course, and thanks to my AIEEE score I got the same. Then we had to go to the allotted college (if desired) and secure admission by paying a small admission amount and confirming our seat.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty is knowledgeable in terms of the syllabus, but very few are beyond that. Most of our queries regarding the subject syllabus are usually answered (if not immediately, then the next lecture most probably). But in terms of project development and research, very few faculty were able to help us in this regard.

The average salary package offered is 6 LPA. My plan after getting the degree of bachelor of engineering is to go for masters and acknowledge more and more knowledge in engineering filed. And be my level best. I'm also looking forward for opportunities to go abroad for my mtech degree. Future my expectations form college are High. Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
