Remarks
The admission process starts with the admission form which costs 1500 Rupees. After that, one's supposed to appear for the SET Exam which has Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, and Language Sections. The test was of 150 Marks the year I gave it and I scored 114 and the cut off was around 100. If you clear the cutoff, you're called for the PI-WAT, during which you have a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). This is the final stage. The college has a lot of different co-curricular activities to offer, be it sports, music, dramatics, photography or anything else. You will be able to find something for yourself. The college also offers many different options for Specialisations which you will be able to choose from. I chose this particular college because of the city it is in: Pune and also the reputation the Symbiosis Brand hasand the fact that many companies that I was interested in working for conduct placement drive in this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is broad and covers a lot of things. Most of the faculty is highly qualified. A lot of them are either have a PhD or are pursuing one. Semester 1,3 and 5 exams take place in October-November and Semester 2,4,6 Exams take place from February to April. It is not that difficult to pass, but since the grading is relative, it is not that easy to score a very good GPA. I chose this course as I am really interested in pursuing a career in Corporate Finance and I believe an Undergraduate Business Degree is the right first step.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are compulsory during the break between Semester 4 and 5. This provides experience to students right before they start sitting for placements. Internships are offered in various companies under various profiles.
Placement Experience
Starting in Semester 5, students start sitting for placements. Highest Domestic Package was 8 LPA (INR) and the Highest Internation Package was 17 LPA (INR). More than 96% of the students sitting for placement got placed. Reputed companies like KPMG, PWC, Calvin Klein etc conduct Placement Drives
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee rises by around 10000-15000 every year. For example, I paid 2,80,000 Rupees in my first year and 2,91,000 Rupees in my second year. I did not have any scholarship. Although, a lot of scholarships are available for people who fulfil certain criteria. The living cost is around 5,00,000 Rupees/Year. This includes accommodation, food, transport, money spent on projects/assignments, other miscellaneous expenses and travelling to your hometown and back twice a year. Although, it is possible for someone to leave easily with around 4,00,000 Rupees/Year.
Campus Life
Impulse is conducted in January. Books are readily available in the library covering almost any topic you might be looking for. Classrooms have projectors. A lot of clubs and sports are available. You will definitely find something for you from all the clubs or any sport you might be into.
Interview Experience
In the interview, they focus on if you would fit into the college or not and what is the reason you want this particular college and course. Also, your strengths and weaknesses are discussed. There was a written ability test where we were supposed to write on some random topic given to us on the spot. Some weightage is given to SET, some to the Written Ability Test and to the Personal Interview.
