Remarks
I chose to attend this college as it's amongst the best colleges in Mumbai. If compared with top institutes it comes around the top 5 colleges for commerce. The bad aspect is the size of the college, it's really compact. The admission process is purely based on merit, for people belonging to general category. The cut-offs are significantly high for commerce courses. Most admissions happen after May till around July or even August. KC is preferred over other Colleges as more than a college, KC is a brand. If you look at the Alumni, of that will speak for the college. Faculty is extremely good, professors are friendly.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose to do BCom as I knew I wanted to pursue a Masters in the future. Doing Bcom gives you the flexibility to get into any industry, whereas something like a BBI would be specific to Banking and Insurance, and/or NBFC, BAF would be related to Accounting and Finance majorly. I may not be the right person to answer about Faculty-Student ratio. There are many professors for various courses and subjects. A number of students in my opinion are around 1500. Term exams were conducted on time, results would take approximately 1-month post the exams are done. Exams are not very easy, and at times, ar times they are difficult.
Placement Experience
Final year students become eligible for campus placements from semester 5. There are quite a lot of companies that visit. From companies in the Big 4 to Taj, Wipro etc. I did not sit for campus placements so I am not sure about the number of offers made, salary packages and percentage of students getting placed as well. My plan after getting my degree is to pursue Master's in Business Management.
Fees and Financial Aid
I paid around 17000 rupees each year for my course. I was in the unaided section. There is an added section in which you are likely to pay around 5000 rupees. People belonging to general category do not get any concession with respect to the fees. I did not avail any financial assistance, and scholarship. So I am not the right person to comment on the same. There are big firms who come for college placements, I decided not to sit for the placements as I wanted to pursue Masters.
Campus Life
Kiran is the name of the annual fest. It is conducted around October. There are various events organised by the college as well as students year-round. Activities are really good, most people enjoy them. The library is very good, it's probably the only place which is not compact in college. There is a wide number of books, journals and other study material available in the Library. It has AC as well. Classrooms are equipped with basic necessities, some of the classrooms have projectors. Most classrooms are equipped with AC as well. Sports do take place. There are various extracurricular activities organised throughout the year like Food Hunt, Quiz, Treks and Camps, NCC and NSS activities. RCKC is a social group of the college.
Other Applied Colleges
KJ Somaiya | Bcom
