Remarks
The campus is astonishing and has a beautiful environment especially around the School of Chemical and Life Sciences building. The only thing that I didn't like was that most of the work here is done offline instead of online. There are not many bad aspects of this college. The admission process was based on merit and interview. In the interview any professor of the department asks about your previous course and why are you joining this course and everything and after the interview gets over we had to wait for some time and then the list of selected candidates was shown. In June the site gets open for new applications for admissions. I preferred this college because of the course which is very interesting and related to my b.sc. course and secondly the location of this college and environment. This college is close to my location so I knew about this college beforehand.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because my B.Sc. course is related to it and it's an interesting course. There were around 32 students in our class and there were 7 to 8 professors and two Lab assistants. The faculties are highly qualified and mostly all of them had completed their post-doctorate. The teaching method is like professors open up a PPT and read out loud from it and also explain it and ask students to make notes. Most of the professors here are very friendly to the students and are easily approachable. The semester-wise exams were used to hold on time and were tough but if you have studied properly you can nicely pass it. Apart from semester exams, there were many tests also which students were supposed to pass and students were also supposed to give some presentations about certain subjects.
Internships Opportunities
During the last semester, the student has to take an internship either in the college or outside the college so some of them can do the internship from the lab and some of them can do it from the outside companies. I did my internship at the college from the neurotoxicology department. Students who did an internship in the companies were mainly offered regulatory field job
Placement Experience
Students become eligible to set in the placements from the 3rd semester. A company that visited was Evalue serve and they talked about their company and there was an online test conducted those who passed the test and had good merit were called for the interview from the college. The package provided by them was 3-4 lacks per annum. 1-2 students get placement from the department every year. First, the company keeps the student for internship for 6 months during which they pay a certain stipend and after that, they decide whether to keep the student permanently or not. Most of the seniors also get placed in the field of regulatory toxicology from outside. My plan after getting the degree is to get a good job.
Fees and Financial Aid
During the time period that I studied here, we had to pay semester wise fees which were 32000 for six months. For the first semester, we had to pay 42000 because it included extra charges of 10000 of 5000 refundable security charges and 5000 library deposit. Because the fee is quite high some of the students need financial assistance so there are several scholarships that one may apply for if you have good marks. Talking about the placement cell in toxicology there is one company that used to come for the placement of 3rd-year students. There aren't many companies so one has to look outside the campus for jobs.
Campus Life
There are many fests that happen at Jamia Hamdard and many events also take place from time to time. Books are readily available in the library and various journals are also available. Classrooms are big and have proper seats available and AC are also available in the classrooms. there are projector facilities also available in the classroom. Students are also provided with their personal locker so that they can keep their books and notes. There are two to three canteens are also available which are nearby different buildings and they serve good food. There are many sports and cultural activities going on the campus and there is also a sports day is celebrated in the college and in extracurricular activities, there are various dance groups, singing groups. On Facebook, there is a page available called Jamia Hamdard which is run by the students of Jamia Hamdard.
Interview Experience
The admission process was mainly based on merit and personal interview of the candidate. One of the professors asks about your previous course and check the knowledge and then they will ask why do you want to join this course. One has to have more than 60% in graduation marks to sit in the interview. For an interview, I studied a bit about toxicology and mostly about general aspects of my previous course.
Other Applied Colleges
Jawaharlal Nehru University | M.Sc. Biotechnology
There were many institutes under Cucet but I wanted to enter JNU I got some other college so I did not opt for that college
