Remarks
IIM Raipur is one of the top 20 colleges according to the NIRF ranking. It holds 19th rank currently and have the IIM brand tag attached to it. One of the best things about this college is that it has a new campus and have single room accommodation facility but unfortunately, because of the COVID scenario, we haven't yet been called to the campus. The admission process is very smooth and the interview process is through the CAP round.
Course Curriculum Overview
This institute provides you the opportunity to have specialization in more than one domain. Say if I'm inclined towards both marketing and finance, then I can choose the subjects from both the domains and the maximum number of specializations one can go for is 3. The faculty here is top-notch and is always available for students for any query. Most have a qualification from top colleges such as IIMs. For the exams, we have 3 terms in a year, and in total, we have 6 terms in 2 years, and in each term, we have midterm, end-term, and quizzes plus the students are also graded on their class participation.
Internships Opportunities
The placement process for the summer internships starts in September. For the batch 2018-20, 140+ companies participated which included many renowned companies such as Reliance, Aditya Birla, Deloitte, RBI, Asian Paints, Google India, etc. The average stipend was Rs. 88,000 and the highest was Rs. 3.9 lakhs. For the summer placements, different companies follow different processes, some have GD rounds and then PI, some includes aptitude test also.
Placement Experience
Final Placements starts from the end of the 4th semester and it has a 100% placement record. For the batch 2018-20, 150+ companies recruited from the institute with 50+ first time recruiters. The average package for this batch was 15.2 LPA with the highest package reaching 46 LPA and the top 25% bagged an average package of 21.28 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees here are much lower than many other top institutes which are around 14 lakhs. Fees are paid on a per term basis and a loan facility is easily available for students who opt for it. The course is full-time so one can't do a job along with the studies but can get enough experience through Short term projects and Summer internships.
Campus Life
Last year the annual fest was conducted in November but this time due to COVID, we are missing this opportunity. But there are many events conducted throughout the year by the different committees and clubs which fuels us during the hectic life in MBA. There are 9 committees and 13 clubs in total and the recruitment process happens in the first term itself.
Hostel Facilities
Staying at the hostel is mandatory for all the students who are pursuing this course as life here is very hectic and difficult to manage without staying at the hostel as it requires a lot of interaction with colleagues and the faculty. But because of the COVID, our batch hasn't yet been called to the hostel for the safety measures but we will be called soon on campus and seriously I feel things would have been much easier for us if we would have been at the campus but still, all the information flow is very smooth through the online mode too.
Interview Experience
The admission process is through the CAT exam and the cut-off for the general category is generally around 95 percentile. After clearing the cut-off, PI/WAT round is there which is combined through the CAP process. There was no GD round at my time and only WAT and PI were conducted. In the WAT round, a topic was given on which we all had to write, and then after that was the PI round in which 2 professors were there for the interview in my panel. They mostly asked me about the work-experience I had and also to locate all the IIMs on the Indian map.
Other Applied Colleges
SCMHRD | MBA
I chose IIM Raipur over SCMHRD as it have the IIM brand tag attached to it.
