MBA experience at DFS

The college is very famous for people who want to build their career in Finance domain and I was one of them so, I choose to take admission at DFS. The good aspect of the college is the college life and the fee structure which is so less that one doesn't have to be burdened about the loans for education purpose. The admission process involves, qualifying CAT and then going through group discussion, finally clearing a personal interview round will get you admission at DFS. The main reason for preferring this college was the less fee and specialisation in finance. I knew about this college prior to getting admission because some of my graduation college seniors studied here so took their guidance and advice while selecting this college.

The course curriculum here is just like other b-schools of the country. It is very rigorous with some of the other thing going on throughout the year. However, faculty here are very good and provide constant guidance and support to every student who needs help in any matter. Faculty have specialisation in the subject they teach and some of them even having industry experience from whom we students get a lot to learn. It is quite difficult to handle all the stuff going on but with the help of peer groups and faculty members, the process becomes enjoyable and fun.

An internship also there are now fewer opportunities available. A number of companies visit DFS with a various offer for summer internship to students. The average stipend for the internship is 30000 with the highest being up to 60000 offer for a month. Many projects like live projects opportunities are also offered to students during the session as well.

Opportunities at DFS in terms of placement are enough for every student to get placed. Having started the career with salary and profile offered at DFS is a very good start for anyone. The highest package here is about 18lacs with median and average package being 10 and 12 respectively. Most of the role offered here are in finance domain with no fewer opportunities in analytics, operations, business development, consulting, etc. Some of the companies for placements that visit campus are Amazon, HUL, Bank of India, Bajaj finance, etc.

The fee is probably the least of any B-School in the country. The fee is 26000 for the whole course with this less fee, there is no requirement for the scholarship I believe and the college doesn't have any such scholarship programme. Campus jobs are provided to students with many opportunities to choose from.

Life at DFS is one of the best college life one can have. People from all across India take admission at DFS and being in a place with diversity in culture, experience, etc brings a lot of togetherness among students. Amenities in the classroom are very much fulfilled as per the requirement of students. Many clubs and committees are there in college run by the students which help in personality development of the student.

Yes, after appearing for CAT, we have to appear for group discussion and personal interview. Only after qualifying both GD and PI we finally get admission to DFS. There is weightage for every round and having a good percentile in CAT, 10th and 12th is a plus for any student who applies at DFS. I prepared for this round by contacting seniors who have already studied at DFS. Seeking help from them has given me many insights on how to proceed further for the GD and PI process.
