Remarks
The best thing about the college would be ROI. Even though it’s a baby IIM it’s still doing better than many new IIMs. There is a great scope of career development as it's still developing and their mentorship programs to guide students for summers and finals. Many people feel that Bihar ain’t safe for girls and all but I can assure it is as safe as any other city. The cons would be not having its own campus which is no more going to be a drawback in 2-3 years. There is a little communication channel gap between students and management which makes it hard for the students to communicate their problems. This was my best option among all the colleges I got and the college was under IIM when I got into this. I have come up with this decision from talking to a lot of seniors in other IIMs and even read some reviews in Quora.
Course Curriculum Overview
My majors are Marketing and minors are HR. I am an outgoing person and I prefer talking to people and always worked in a managerial role. I have worked in various committees and clubs in school and college. I believe marketing is something which I would excel in and get better at in future. The student to teacher ratio is 60 which is not a very good thing I believe. Most of the teachers are freshers but talented. There are some visiting faculty too for some courses. The academic committee takes care of the exam schedule and it is very student-friendly. It’s not hard to pass MBA and u don’t need to study the whole day to pass. Anyone person who loves to enjoy studying can easily clear this.
Internships Opportunities
The companies which came for the summer internships are Kotak, Crompton, Bisleri, Sodexo, RBI, BNY etc. The average stipend is around 25k. The roles offered would be marketing interns, finance intents etc. We would be working with a team to understand and analyse the competitors and the market of a certain company.
Placement Experience
Placements start in the 4th term which is pretty much after the summer internships. The highest package was 18 lakhs and the average is around 10 LPA which is pretty good for a baby IIM. The major companies which visited for the finals are Crompton, AGS, Mahindra, Bisleri, Byjus, BNY, SBI, Kotak etc. The companies which visit the campus most of the time makes sure that they atleast take 1 student. Most of the students get placed and the only way a student doesn’t get placed will be the reason for having a cgpa less than 5 which makes him or her not eligible for placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is pretty good actually. The fees are not too high and the ROI is better at IIM Bodhgaya compared to many IIMs. There is a chance of scholarship for the merit people and getting a loan is very easy since banks would be standing around the campus ready to give the students financial assistance including mess fees and pocket money too. Summer internship for our batch was little disturbed due to the covid scenario but our seniors had a pretty good summer. There are enough opportunities for the students who want to do better in life and the only thing we have to make sure is be prepared for the interviews.
Campus Life
The best thing is the campus life. We have our annual fest called Elegante where colleges around Patna and Gaya come to participate in different sports and cultural events. This happens around November. We even go to either XLRI Jamshedpur or IIM Ranchi for their annual fest. There are different cultural and sports events which take place in college all year. I wouldn’t say we have an amazing library but it ain’t so bad too. The classroom is the same as in schools which many are not satisfied. I believe all these issues will be sorted once we have our own campus. There are clubs for marketing, finance. Strategy and unnayan for music and dance.
Hostel Facilities
We have our own individual room which consists of basic amenities like bed, table, chair and fan. We don’t have attached washrooms but we have around 15 for 30 people so it’s like 1 per 2 persons. We have a mess vendor who operates in IIT Kharagpur who is pretty good actually. Even the mess people are friendly and always provide us with whatever they can. The hostel and mess committee deals with the handling of rooms and mess menu. We have a pretty good H and M committee who are always willing to help students.
Interview Experience
I didn’t have any GD. I had a written essay writing and then a PI. My panel consisted of 3 people which included 2 male and 1 female. They asked me about my engineering and other political questions. Mine was a stress interview actually as they tried to oppose me all the times. They asked me personality questions too. The only advice would just be yourself and try to be as honest as possible. Remember no one is perfect and it all depends on how we are looking at the past and the future.
