A review for IIMBG

Since it is a new college and I wanted to be part of the initial beginning of the college and set the culture as the institute grows. The admission process included essay writing and personal interview. This college was best among baby IIMs.

Pedagogy of case-based classroom teaching, however, this could have been better if it were experience-based pedagogy. The faculty-student ratio is nearly 1:10. The faculties are well-read and research-oriented. The exams are intellectually challenging and conducted on time ensuring proper & timely completion of the session.

The internships offered here at IIMBG are in the domains of business development, digital and social media marketing, analyst, HR, as well as operations. The companies visiting are from the industries of advertising, marketing, financial services, credit agencies, BFSI, FMCG, startups etc.

The placement opportunities at IIMBG are on par with other peer colleges. The average salary of all placed students as of now stands at 11LPA with the roles offered being that of the analyst, sales manager, business development, customer relationship manager to name a few. The placement season starts after the fourth trimester.

Plenty of financial assistance opportunities from recognised government institutions. The fees have remained constant for the two batches right now and the external expenses other than academia do not amount to more than 3000 per month. Companies visit the campus regularly, with some companies having been empanelled with the institute as well.

The annual fest is known as Elegante which is conducted once annually in the month of December during the second trimester. The library is well-equipped with books of all domains, Thomson Reuters terminal, provides access to several online databases as well as professional business tools free of cost. The classrooms are smart class enabled and air-conditioned. The sports & cultural committee provide a respite in the times of academic rigour at the college and enable fun and entertaining environment for all the residents at hostels and campus. There are several student-run committees and clubs which work to ensure the students remain occupied at all times of their stay at IIM BG.

The hostel rooms are provided with high-quality Godrej tables, swivel chairs, beds and Kurl-on mattresses. Each hostel wing has well-maintained washrooms and bathrooms with facilities of hot water geyser, showers, and washing machines. There are a water cooler and purifier operational throughout the year in each of the wings. The utility staff is available round the clock to look after any requirements. Students are mandated to reside at hostels during their stay at IIMBG.

There was a written test for the admission. It included writing an essay on the topic of the Annual Budget. The interview questions were related to technical knowledge from undergraduate years since I did not have any experience. Also, an extempore was also there during the interview.
