Remarks
College management should focus more on sports and extra - curricular activities.
Entrance Preview
IIT JEE, COMEDK , AIEEE I gave all the above exams. Did not qualify for IIT JEE. Got a good AIEEE rank, but did not good enough to get into good Engineering college in Delhi. Had also given COMEDK, will finally bear fruit and I was able to get PESIT, CS, which I have to say was one of the best decisions.
Course Curriculum Overview
It is actually good, there are electives ranging from Machine Learning, AI(Artificial Intelligence), big data to NLP (Natural Language Processing). The professors are very respected and knowledgeable, they want the students to succeed. Recently PISAT was launched into space with collaboration of ISRO. It is a huge achievement for the students of PESIT.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides lots of opportunities for Internship. It is entirely dependent on the student to take advantage. Internship vary from big MNC's like Microsoft, Deloitte to startups like Urbanladder, Myntra, Flipkart etc.
Placement Experience
The college provides lots of opportunities for placements. It is one of the best colleges for placements in Bangalore. They are divided into Tier1, Tier2 and Tier3 companies depending on the package. Atleast 20-30 companies visit PESIT every year. And this trend is only increasing year after year.
College Events
There are a lot of events organised in our college varying form cultural to technical. Aatmatrisha is our annual College fest, and famous artists attend this fest. We also have a yearly hackathon which involves famous coders and like minded people. Apart from this we have many CSR activities going around college like Swacch Bharat abhiyaan.
Fee Structure And Facilities
It depends. There is a different fee structure for people from outside Karnataka and from Karnataka within Karnataka - 50000/year ( via CET ) Outside Karantaka - 149000/year ( via COMEDK ) all in all I believe it is affordable and not that expensive.
Fees and Financial Aid
None that I know of. But our colleges awards cash prizes to top 10 students every year.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is pretty screwed up even in CS, which makes us boys sad. In a class of 80, their were hardly 15 girls. Most of the students are localities from in and around Karnataka. That being said there are a lot of North Indians as well. They focus more on academics than sports which makes me sad. They should also be much more open minded.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel are very neat and clean food is okay, but there is option to but from food court which is like a restaurant and serves tasty, hot food. Now, coming to the hostel authorities, they are brainless idiots. One of their rules is no shorts for boys in a Boys only hostel ( girls hostel is 2-3 km away ). Second, in time for boys 7:00pm, how does it make sense.
Alumni/Alumna
I have not had any such specific experience with any alumni, so cannot comment. But one thing I would like to say is that the seniors were very helpful and there was no ragging problem.
Exam Structure
The exams are divided into 3 parts. T1, T2 and SEE( Semester End Exam). T1 and T2 combined have 50 % weightage and the rest half is for SEE. A person needs to score atleast 33% in the final SEE irrespective of the total score he attains at the end of the semester. All in all it is a rigorous process to ensure that the student understands and learns everything. An important point to note is that, there is no OPTIONAL chapters unlike other colleges.
Faculty
I believe every college has different types of professors. PESIT is no different, some professors are there which are average. But then some are amazing, with such a deep sense of the subject. But mostly the faculty are helpful and good. The standards that our college follows is usually higher than the rest.
