Remarks

For good remarks is no one can go without any memorable days or situations from here. The location and nature is extremely good for studies but the main problem is this college is located far from Kolkata. Infrastructure and management need to upgrade. They should use free lands which are unused within the campus. N.B. Good college, good area, good weather and excellent natural view, Big campus ground, Seenic Tea garden.

Entrance Preview

I attended WBJEE Joint Entry Exam for Lateral Entry (JELET) and got a general rank of around 820 (Not remember actual) and 3 as a departmental rank after completing my diploma on CSFT. There was no interview process, just attend the counseling on the basis of my rank and choose this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I passed from this college under the board WBUT but now a days it is a autonomous college. This college is also known as JGEC. JGEC provided 6 course on that time, i.e. CE, ECE, CSE, EE, ME and IT for B. Tech. It also have a facility to complete M. Tech from here.

Internships Opportunities

I do not have a brief idea about any internship from other streams but from our stream (CSE) there was nothing like that.

Placement Experience

3.5

Overall placements and job opportunities are good. There are many companies who come for on campus placements like Tata Consultancy Services, Erricson, capgemini, Larsen & Toubro Limited etc. But it depends on the market. JGEC has a good record on CSE, IT, ECE AND EE placement.

College Events

4

We were divided by courses but united by the events. The main event was celebrated by us was yearly cultural fest (social) which we celebrate for 8 to 10 days. Rather this there was tech fest, Freshers' welcome ( department wise ). Sports (including running, cricket, football). On that time once we were the host of inter college cricket tournament.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure was very feasible for all of us. On that time our semester fees was six thousands only (for 2 semester 12000 per year) for CSE department and little exam fees extra with it. it was not very differ for other departments but I haven't much idea. On that there was also half free scholarship and full free scholarship facilities.

Fees and Financial Aid

There was also half free scholarship and full free scholarship facilities on semester fees. Also students could apply for other scholarship from our college.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life was very good and memorable. I was staying in a pg but most of the time I went to the tea garden for chill out and it was located within our college campus area. There was also a bank and post office within the campus ground. There was cricket ground (named as OVAL), football ground basket ball court. But as per Gender ratios it was bad on that time. Because the main problem is this college is located far from Kolkata.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I was staying in a paying guest so I have not much idea but I heard that hostel facilities and mess food was likely good or I can say over average. The hostel rent was very much low and affordable for all. Most of the students tried to stay in the hostel but not enough seats was available there on my time.

Alumni/Alumna

Our alumni networks and senior students were very helpful. We all might not have a face to face interaction but always connected through other networks or social networks.

Exam Structure

Exam structures were as per the West Bengal University of Technology based. But there was many internal exams for both theoretical and practical and it was not as chilled out but not like hectic. I think the exam structure was as needed and good enough to learn.

Faculty

4

I can say it was average on the basis of faculty and infrastructure. They have a huge scope to upgrade and they should do it. I had chosen this college mainly because it is Govt. college and on the basis of placement and heritage. The faculty was good and helpful.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
