IIM Kashipur Review

IIM Kashipur is spread across 200 acres and I choose IIM Kashipur over other new IIM's because of its beautiful location in the foothills of Himalaya and the fact that every year it is growing in terms of reputation and placement reports. This year it completed a decade since its incorporation and it has been growing ever since. While I was searching for the colleges I searched on Collegedunia.com and got really good reviews about IIM Kashipur. The admission process for IIM Kashipur starts with a candidate getting shortlisted for the CAP round in which WAT and PI are conducted over different locations throughout India, this year as an entire nation being hit by Covid the CAP process is conducted online.

The course at IIM Kashipur is divided into 6 terms with 3 terms each year. In 2020, IIM Kashipur started a new program i.e. MBA in analytics along with its flagship MBA course. The entire placement process of the two courses is conducted together. The faculty at IIM Kashipur is highly experienced and most of the professors have their articles published in well-renowned publications. At IIM Kashipur there are 41 permanent faculties along with many visiting professors so that the students can have a wider perspective and learnings. Almost all the professors are PHD holders so they are highly specialized individuals in their respective fields. At the end of every term, the feedback form is floated by the MBA office to get insights into what students think about their professors. The evaluation criteria of every course generally include a midterm, end term, and quizzes which are held 3-4 times throughout the duration of the course

This year the highest stipend stood at around 3.3 lakh with an average of 1.56 lakhs for the top 25% of the batch. 358 offers were made to 332 students from the top organizations. The companies provided different roles including finance, marketing, human resource, operations, etc.

The placement season for the junior batch i.e. summer placement starts at around mid of 1st term and everyone gets placed till the start of 3rd term or so. The recruiters for summers include many big MNC's providing good roles and hefty stipends but there are many startups as well which come to campus, so if anyone want to get the feel of working in startups can apply for them but they don't usually give good stipends. The final placements are pretty good with an average package of around 12-13 lakhs. IIM Kashipur has a record of 100% placements and this year also the final batch is close to being 100 % placed with 2-3 months left until they graduate

The fee structure at IIM Kashipur is around 16 lakhs and if you take mess expenses and other personal expenses into consideration then the cost will come around 19-20 lakhs for 2 years. These 16 lakhs are to pay in 6 installments at the start of every trimester. IIM Kashipur being a premier B-school the loan is easily available without any collateral required and the offer letter from the college itself acts as a security to the banks. The college also provides scholarships which are categorized into 3 parts: Merit-based, Need-Based, and Need-Cum merit-based scholarships and every year around 20-25 students are given scholarships, and their tuition fees are waived off.AT the end of the day this investment is worth it as the student's bags an average placement of 12-13 lakhs per annum, so the students can easily pay out their loans after their MBA

The entire campus is run by students, we have 32 student bodies who manage the entire day to day operations of the campus, from infrastructure,to mess, to merchandise, to placement everything is done by the students. Agnitraya is the flagship event of IIM Kashipur which is conducted over 3 days and which saw a heavy footfall of students from other premier B- schools. The event involves different cultural and sports events along with Sunburn at night. Last year Ninja was the celebrity guest of Agnitraya and we had a great time in his concert. The campus is spread across 200 acres, it has wide variety of sports infrastructure like cricket, football, badminton, frisbee ground etc, Students at IIM Kashipur never sleeps as after their hectic schedule throughout day and then assignments and the work of their respective student bodies, they get little time in which they play sports and other fun activities

IIM Kashipur offers a residential program so it is mandatory for everyone to avail the hostel facility. For the first year the students have to share the room in double occupancy which is then changed to single occupancy in 2nd year. The rooms are small but they have proper ventilation facilities. The mess food is pretty good with a wide variety of dishes being served. There is everything for vegetarians and nonvegetarians so nobody has to worry about the food. Along with mess the college also has canteens where we can order our favorite snacks or main course.

There used to be a GD/PI process under the CAP round but now the GD has been replaced with WAT(Written ability test]. The major topics under WAT revolve around the current topics which are in news. For me, my WAT topic was regarding changing scenarios in the automobile sector and wrote about the shift from BS IV to BS VI engines. The PI round is the most tricky one because in the panel can ask anything from current affairs to budget, to govt policies, etc. I will recommend everyone to know deeply about their hometown including the history, any famous personalities etc. For people with work ex, you can expect a lot of questions revolving around your job and what you have learned. I prepared for my CAP round through the PI kit given by IIM Kashipur and it was really helpful
