Remarks

I chose this college because it stands in one of the top engineering colleges and also it's placement stats are very nice. The admission process consists of 2 rounds the basic admission is done through JEE score and the stream is allocated according to the score in rounds consecutively. The reason for preferring this college was on the basis of placement stats and the faculty and was closer to my hometown too.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose the course electronics and instrumentation engineering (EIC) because electronics had a lot of scopes ahead. The course curriculum is 7-8 subjects per semester. For first year you study all the subjects and then from then specialisation starts. The teachers are very qualified and the teaching pattern is not that great. The terms were taken twice every semester MST'S (Mid Semester Exams) and then EST'S(End Semester Exams) apart from that projects and evaluations happen.

Internships Opportunities

4

The companies like Samsung, SC, google, amazon hire for internships and if you do well it is converted into PPO. The stipend given during internships is ranging between 20-30000. The highest was again given by Microsoft google and amazon of 60000.

Placement Experience

4.5

The placements are as you expect them to be. All the big MNC's visit. Google Microsoft hire. The package that Google offered was 3400000 and the second highest was given my amazon for 2400000. The companies like Deloitte, Blackrock, Oyo do mass recruitment. Almost 95% of students get placed. You are eligible for sitting in the company interviews from the 6th semester and the last semester is for an internship.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college is quite expensive the facilities are still not up to the mark, the hostels are great and newly constructed but the academic area is not as per the requirements. The cost to study was 169000 per year. The tuition fee was 109600, development fee 50000, welfare charges 7500, exam charges 2000, medical fee and insurance was 400. The job I got from the college was in Whitehat Jr with a stipend of 9 LPA.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life is very nice you get almost everything inside the hostel and it is in the center of the city. The annual fest of Thapar is Saturnalia and the tech fest is Orion'19 and many more hackathons and all take place quite frequently and a lot more cultural fests keep happening around the year. The library is the best part it's newly constructed with projector rooms and discussion rooms and the availability of books is very good. You get almost all the books readily available in the library. Classrooms and not that good. No renovations have been done lately. Almost all the sports are there on the campus itself and inter-college events happen.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostels are large in number starting from A to M. The hostels vary in prices. The best hostel for girls is ICONIC. The room includes a bed washroom almirah study table and chair and balcony if you take double occupancy if the single balcony is not provided. The meal quality is not that good but certain things were good. For hostel registration, you have to choose your hostel and room online when the registration starts. And once done the rooms are allotted and online it is first to come first basis.
