VJTI - 125 year legacy

As a whole VJTI is a good college for all though it is dominated by Maharashtraian students.College management is constantly in a bid to improve upon students curriculum by roping in foreign professors and industry lecturers, organizing seminars etc.

I have qualified through GATE. My score was 26.67 or 90 percentile. I opted for this college siting excellent teaching faculty ,infrastructure, cultural freedom and placements.

Course curriculum is balanced. It involves exposing students to theoretical as well practical knowledge. I was a student of Structures elective which involves complex theories explaining analysis and design of the various structures for the loads like Earthquake ,wind dead load ,live load ,snow load etc. Institute contribute in expanding students knowledge base by organizing seminars, quizzes in which industry peoples share their views.

Yes, our college does provide internship for the external consultancy work undertaken by the college. Companies like ACC , HCC, Shrikhande etc. and government bodies like MSRTC, PWD etc offer internship. Stipend is company specific and ranges between 10k-15k.

The Placement and job opportunities are excellent. Companies like BPCL,IOC,NAIL,DAR,Dor oliver, L & T, L& T ECC, ATKINS, AFCONS, Mahindra EPC, M&M, Facebook, Microsoft, Google etc came to campus. BPCL had offered 10lac CTC, L& T and mahindra EPC had offered 5.5lac CTC . All the constrction related companies offered package between 5-10 lac CTC.

There are two main events of the college. one is Enthusia which involves participation of student from all over India for sports and other is Pratibimb which is a cultural festival. The energy and passion of the students for these two events is awesome. During Enthusia all the sports are organised in college among which cricket ,football and basketball are wildly cheered.

Though it is an autonomous college and 125 year old the fee structure is reasonable for civil engineering students. For Mtech it is around 23k for a year and if you are a GATE qualified student you get 8k stipend per month. Moreover if you fall in any of the cast you do get freeship benefits and college helps in getting them.

The scholarship offered by college is through government. One may apply for scholarship/stipend if he/she is GATE qualified or she/he may apply for cast related scholarship like "Chatrpati Shahu maharaj" scholarship. Loan facility is not offered by college as far a i know.

The gender ratio is inclined towards girls ,may be all the exams were topped by girls and VJTI is the preferred choice of the students after IIT. There is a freshers party every year. talking about student diversity, Yes, it is diverse. Bright student from all over India study here. College is strict about dress code. No shorts allowed in college for girls and 3/4th for boys. Politically it is dominated by Shivsena.

I haven't stayed at hostel as I stay in Mumbai. What I have experienced form my friends is that hostel facilities are average. Rooms are OK and sharing was not an issue. Most of my friends used to stay PG and it used to cost them 4k per month for room, electricity, mess etc.

College do organize alumni meet every year. we get to meet peoples who have contributed for the society in past years. I have heard "Dwarkanath Sanzagiri" in one of the meet. He is retired Chief engineer of BMC and well know cricket commentator. He inspired us to pursue our hobby.

The exams and labs were balanced. As a GATE qualified Mtech student I have to assist professors in taking practicals, checking assignments etc. The Exams were not that frequent giving enough time to study but exam papers used to scheduled alternate day.

Faculty of the college is well know in the Industry for their top notch achievements in their curriculum as well as industrial work. All the professors are Phd holders and contractual staff they hire are qualified Masters only. All the Processors are connected to industry hence they share their knowledge or learning to student periodically through seminars. All the professors make sure that student get the concept.
