Remarks

Overall college experience was quite fabulous. As we all know every college has some or other form of flaws as no one is perfect. So barring few things this college is recommended from my side. Everything is well managed by college. They have regular meeting with all staff members and faculty members and they keep on taking crucial decision for betterment of college.

Entrance Preview

I wrote AIEEE 2007 and got All India Rank 33000. Admission to this college was organised by DTE(Directorate of technical education) which is governing body for engineering colleges in Maharashtra and this is centralized process which means you will get college of your choice based on your rank. I selected this college because this is one of the top ranked colleges around Mumbai area. It has best infrastructure, good professors, one of the best placement record , huge campus and many more. Electronics and telecommunication is considered one of the best course to consider as it has wide scope. It has scope in multiple industries ranging from electronics, telecom, software, PSU, defence and so on. So I considered this course and more over I was quite intrigued by electronics things right from my childhood which made me select this course.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

All the course curriculum is set by the elite University of Mumbai by the bright minded professors with years of experience in respective domain. So the course curriculum is one of the best in the country. The course keep on updating to meet the industry requirement. As far as the research is concerned courses have full potential to go deep into research but the problem is that very few students are interested in research field as they are aimed at professional world. So if you want to do research work its you who would motivate yourself although you would get full support from professors.

Internships Opportunities

Our college do not have such facility for internship. There is no company which visit the campus to hire interns, neither college approach them for internships. You will have to look for internships opportunities on you own outside through your own contacts. If you ask college for help they will provide you with few contacts in industry for internship. So a piece of advice for future students is find an internship through your own contact , do not depend on the college.

Placement Experience

4.5

If there is something this college is famous for then it is placement. This college is hugely popular for placement in Mumbai. In fact every student who meet minimum eligibility criteria get placed in good company with good package. They have well organised and robust placement cell who constantly train students and prepare them for industry requirement. Our batch had around 500 students in all branches. When placement season starts mass recruiter companies like INFOSYS, TCS, HCL etc come first. In our case Infosys came first and hired around 200 students, then came HCL and took away around 100 students. Then many well reputed companies kept coming and almost all of us got placed. Dream companies like Google, J P Morgan, Nomura etc too came to our campus. Core companies like TATA POWER, AIRTEL and many more also came. From defence sector it was INDIAN NAVY and INDIAN army came out. But most of the companies who visited were IT companies. Average pay package was around 3 lac. Some students got package as high as 8 lac. So at the end I would like to say that If a student maintain consistent academic record and maintain a percentage of 60% throughout semester then no one can deny him/her a good placement.

College Events

4.5

There are many events celebrated throughout the year in the college. The most famous among them is HORIZON which is 3 day festival in a long list of events take place ranging from rock band, fashion show, dance competition, sports activity, drama, quiz, etc. in participants from all over city takes part. The most peculiar thing about this fest is that a bollywood celeb is invited on this show each year. They could be singer like Sonu nigam, pritam or any actors or actress. Technical fest like IEEE, CSIT(by COMPS branch), Robotics, and many more are organised. Infact each branch have their own tech fest. Cultural fest like Kalrag which is a stage drama fest, Traditional Day, Tie Day, Saree Day, Rose Day, Chocolate Day etc are celebrated. The campus is vivid and vibrant throughout the year. There is no scope of boredom here.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since the fee of all colleges here in Maharashtra is decided by Sikshan Shulkan Samiti a government body based on infrastructure of college, so there is no scope of being overcharged by a college. You won't believe I was paying 40000 INR towards college fee per year while my friends where paying 1 or 2 lac as college fee in other parts of India. The fee here quite feasible. In fact it seems cheaper considering world class infrastructure, great faculty member, best placement which college is providing. Event today the fee per year has gone around 1 lac which is not costly taking into account inflation.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are generally given to reserved category students which are provided by state government. They get full reimbursement of fee or at least half. For minority students there is Merit cum means scholarships through which a student gets 25000 INR which is based on merit. Loan facility is not provided by college for which you have to approach outside banks and college will help in all documentation process.

Campus Life

4

As i said earlier campus life is vibrant here. Male to female ratio is 70:30. This college accepts students from all over India. You can get to see students from Jammu and Kashmir, NorthEast, North India, South India and every nook and corner of the country. Students are from every religious faith and cultural faith. Among all diversity there is unity here. There never had been any incidence of hate crime. People live in harmony here. Don't be surprised to see students from well affluent family mingling with students of low economic status. Talking of sports this college has world class Dy Patil Sports Stadium which has hosted many international and national matches. This college has one of the best football team in city throughout the year there is always some or other form of activities like robotics , quiz competition, debates, cultural activities, various religious festival celebration and prom night for freshers.

Hostel Facilities

4

Engineering college in the campus do not have hostel facility but for girls student they accommodate in the hostel for medical students which is in the same DY PATIL campus. But it has limited seats for engineering students and it is offered first come first serve basis. This hostel little costly but they have best facility to offer, great food and hygiene. There are a lot of PG outside the campus. For girls the famous one is Sawali hostel which is adjacent to campus and it has good facility which would cost around 7000. If you don't want to live in PG then you can rent a flat near campus which is easily available. A normal 2 bhk flat would cost around 10000 which you can share among 4 or 5 friends to save cost. On college notice board you can find notice about vacant seats in a flat which is put by students itself those in need of roommates.

Alumni/Alumna

It was first day of my college I was looking at the college notice board which had displayed class routine, but i was confused how to read that(It was in some coded form) and classroom were situated at place i was not familiar with as college was huge. Sensing me as confused junior a senior nearby interrupted and said if i needed help , I nodded yes. That guy explained me how read that routine and accompanied till my scheduled class room. In between he even saved me from ragging by seniors. I was amazed by his gesture. So if you make a good term with seniors they are always ready to help you barring some. College has a dedicated alumni website where students can interact with them.

Exam Structure

In a semester there were two term test and one final semester exam and all of them were important. For a subject there were around 10-15 experiment which needed to be done in lab and for each experiment we had to submit journals. In the we wrote 6- 7 long assignment each of around 10 questions and needed to submitted with in stipulated time frame. So what I want to say is there are lots and lots of journal required to be written and submitted before each semester exam. In order to get good term work marks you have to score well in two internal term test. Semester exam consists of 7 questions out of which 5 are compulsory and each on carries 20 marks but question 1 is compulsory and had 4 sub question and all needed to solved within 3 hours.

Faculty

4

All faculties have a minimum degree of M.tech in respective domain. Many have PhD laso. So faculties are well qualified and they are well prepared to teach a particular course. They are supportive too. You approach 1 step they would come 2 step towards you . In fact they are quite interested to impart their knowledge.

In Kit college their are some rules for placement drive. In 7th sem companies started to visit our college. During my placement my engineering percentage is around 70 and I am able to attend every drive. Once student get placement offer from one company that student is not allowed to apply next company which package is near to previous company. Placement in Kit college in my year is 70 to 75%. The unplaced students have decided to go for MS.
