Anonymous's Review On Gangadhar Meher University, Sambalpur

Gangadhar Meher University is one of the oldest and most reputed institutions in the state of Odisha. It serves around 6000-7000 students from UG, PG, MPhil and PhD course. After completing my 12th grade I wanted to enroll myself in a reputed government institution so I decided G.M.University is the place to be at. The admission is primarily based on merit, i.e. percentage of marks scored in 12th standard. The application process for admission goes online through the official website of the university. It starts somewhere between May-June. After filling the application form and successful payment the confirmation is generated. The selection list is published online on the official website of the university approximately after 10-15 days of last dte of filling up the application form and the admission process starts after that. The admission procedure is not very complicated, you have to come to the campus with all the relevant documents and certificates and you will be guided through all process. one can easily get himself enrolled here to get good quality education with minimum fee structure.

Being from a marvadi family I always wanted study commerce in order to know about the business world, the accounting system and the market. This university consists of different departments from science, humanities and commerce. Most of the teachers hold a PhD degree or are doing there PhD and are well trained to teach. Most of the teachers are cooperative and helpful to the students. The teaching method is the traditional classroom method followed by most of the colleges in the country. The teaching system could be upgraded but we cannot expect any better quality with such low amount of course fees we pay here. Exams are conducted semester wise bi-yearly. The odd semesters are conducted in November end and the even semesters are conducted in march. The course structure was well framed as per the need of the students and it was pretty easy to pass with a little hard work.

There are certain companies Hindalco, Jindal, ICICI bank, etc. that come for campus placement but they are mostly for MBA students only and the number of placements is very so you cannot rely on the university to get a placement.

Being an old college, the infrastructure at the University is not very good, although a lot of new classrooms are under construction and many other modern ways of teaching are being adopted gradually. It's just average.

Fees structure is minimal and different scholarship schemes offered by State Government And Central Government are available. You need to keep a check on the notice board to get updated about the different schemes.

There are hostels provided by the university. As the beds are limited and there are more students, not everyone gets accommodation at the hostel. But there are other accommodation available near the campus at reasonable prices.
