Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE and scored 130 marks out of 360, with a national rank of around 45000. There was no interview, the admissions were purely based on merit.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is in line with the other colleges in Petroleum field, and changes to the curriculum are made often to keep it in line with the other colleges. From research point of view, we had almost 1-2 labs per semester, where you can perform research activities if you are interested in. The electives were not that encouraging for research purpose.

Internships Opportunities

There was an internship to be performed after 3rd year examinations, before the start of 4th year. Companies like ONGC, Emerson, GSPC, Mott McDonald, etc participated for internship. But sadly, except Emerson, who gave a stipend of Rs 20000 per month, no other company offered stipend to us.

Placement Experience

3

Sadly, the petroleum sector crashed just when our placement season was about to begin. But yet, the college tried the best from their end and brought in companies like ONGC, GSPC, GSFC, GSPC Gas, GNFC, Essar Oil, Reliance, Shell, Halliburton, Infosys, TCS, and a few other.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is a bit on the expensive side, as it would cost you nearly Rs 1 lakh per semester (including mess fees, and excluding hostel fees), or Rs 2 lakhs annually (including mess fees, and excluding hostel fees). So, it is surely not the cheapest of the colleges to study, but at the same time, when we compare it with other petroleum colleges in India like UPES, Dehradun, it is a bit cheaper compared to them.

Fees and Financial Aid

I do not have knowledge about the scholarships, but loan facility was available with 2 banks, State Bank of India (SBI) and Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC). The rate of interest was somewhere between 10 and 11 percent annually.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life was worth an experience as the campus was vibrant in nature. The gender diversity was also good, thanks to the School of Liberal Studies for that. The diversity was also good, as there was a 50% quota set for non-Gujarat students, which meant students from other states had their fair chances for getting into our college.

Exam Structure

The exam structure was very well designed, which neither made it hectic for us, nor did it let us take it too easy. It was in line with all the premier institutes of India. We had a mid-semester examination from which 30% of the marks of that particular subject would make up, and the end-semester examination accounted for 60%. The rest 10% came from various evaluation sources like attendance, assignments, etc.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty was top notch. There were many professors from ONGC and ISM, Dhanbad (now IIT). Also, the professor for Geology course, Mr. Sarkar, was considered to be one of India's topmost geologists'. He was also called upon by ONGC for many of their exploration projects. So, that itself tells about their qualification.

There is no major problem in the curriculum regarding to the course. The curriculum covers almost all major real-world applications. But, the there is so much detailed and compulsive study on techniques that are not even used in today's time.

Placements are good. Students are eligilble for campus placements from 7th semester. The highest package is 2100000 and the lowest is 200000. The median package is 3.5 to 4.5 lakhs per year. From last two years there was 100% placements but usually its 90%. I plan to pursue pg after this degree in either mtech or mba.
