Entrance Preview

12th ISC (Delhi Board) to get into NM college. I scored 84%. Narsee Monjee's reputation precedes itself. It is considered as one of the premier institutes of India for commerce. The college is very strict when it comes to discipline and attendance. BFM as a course is perfect for anyone who has an interest in the financial markets of the world.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course has a general approach in the first year with the focus being on basic subjects like accounts and economics and statistics. This is mainly done to revise old concepts and for the non commerce background students to get an idea of the commerce subjects.

Internships Opportunities

Internships are not provided by the college but the college has a placement cell which helps the students in improving their soft skills to get the job.

Placement Experience

4

During the start of the final year, the students are trained in their soft skills by the placement cell. It is extremely helpful and effective. The quality of the companies coming is extremely high. Companies like JP Morgan, KPMG, ICICI Bank, Edelweiss, E&Y, etc come in the first few weeks of the placements.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees is extremely affordable. Courses like BAF, BFM and BBA are unaided courses and hence the fees is close to Rs. 18,000 a year. Aided courses like BCom are close to Rs. 5000 a year. The fees are lower for SC/ST students and for girls in junior college (11th and 12th grade).

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't know or have heard about any scholarships offered by Narsee Monjee college but an inquiry in the college office should give you all the information you need.

Alumni/Alumna

There is an alumni network in college but it remained fairly inactive. There was a college reunion for the alumni but that too was arranged in the after hours of the college and the students currently studying there did not know about the event.

Exam Structure

There are only 2 exams in each semester. The internals and the externals. The internals is 40 mark papers and the externals is 60 marks (at least they were in my batch). Each semester had 6 subjects so 12 exams a semester.

Faculty

3

The faculty is majoritively good. Narsee Monjee hand picks its professors and most of them are qualified in their respective field. Even the visiting faculty has the relevant experience needed. The only downside being that once teachers get in, they get comfortable and end up staying for years because they know their seniority is valued.

Placement Experience:

At TCSC placements are quite good as anyone. Even the SOBO colleges and Mithibai don't have placements as good as us. So this is why I always dreamt of studying here because since last 6-7 years, Thakur College placements have gone better and higher.

Remarks:

The good thing is that the college was not strict and was never forcing us to study rather it was seeing to it that it gave us proper advice and help us reach more towards my career goal. The bad part would be there were may staff which was very dull and was not kind, and no importance was given to correct their behaviour although it was evident by all.
