Remarks
The basic requirements from a B-school are its Placements, Alumni and Networking opportunities. IIFT in terms of its placements have famous recruiters like McKinsey, ITC, HUL, Microsoft, Google, BCN etc. which were all companies I aspired to work in. Something that especially stood out for me was also IIFT's focus on International Business which is taught by some renowned professors who work with the Ministry on several real-time projects ranging from dairy marketing to export policy. This also gives us students the opportunity to work on some of these live projects under the professors. IIFT also has its Port Visits and opportunities to work with NGOs which are all great learning experiences. Being located in Delhi, the college is also exposed to a lot of corporate level opportunities
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because of the growing importance of trade and international business. IIFT has an extensive curriculum ranging from dairy marketing to export policy by its many renowned professors like Dr. Rakesh Mohan Joshi or Tamanna. Even though the college is associated with its trade domain, its not necessary to do a trade major from IIFT. The subjects taught merely give insights into how the raw materials should be sourced based on foreign policy and how a profitable business can be started & sustained. Faculty:Student ratio in IIFT is about 1:50 and most of the professors have Ph.Ds and would be working on several policies or projects under the Government. Pedagogy involves a mix between case studies, presentations and quizzes to ensure that we retain maximum information.
Placement Experience

Campus Life
Quo Vadis is the cultural fest and Trade Winds the annual business conclave. The annual Alumni meet -GAR is held usually in the month of December which sees a night filled with a lot of esteemed alumni. There are several committees that take care of the different extracurricular activities. There are several clubs for Marketing, trade, operations, consulting, IT etc which promote the respective domain in the student fraternity with sessions, talks, and other activities. There is an online blog maintained by the Media Committee which contains all the activities run in college www.iiftinsider.com
Interview Experience
Concepts required for the IIFT exam were quite similar to that of CAT. Since there is no sectional time limit and the sectional cut-offs are usually lower than the overall score required, an ideal strategy would be to first attempt all the easy questions from each section to clear the cut-offs and then going on to maximize the overall scores in sections that are your strengths. Mocks: Time, CrackU, CL, IMS There was a GP/PI/WAT. WAT (20 mins) egs: Crime is only considered a crime, when those other than the powerful do it, Auto sector slowdown vs sale of high-end cars, Steps to tackle crop stubble burning, Fresh air a luxury for metros, etc GD (45mins,18 students): 1 min intros and conclusions, rest GD) Eg: Nepotism vs talent, Water war, RCEP trade deals, co-working spaces vs privacy, AI will replace humans, etc PI revolves mainly around work-ex, projects, interests. (Engineers background) Can expect few questions on opinion about India's trade and economics relating to current news.
