Remarks

The University of Calcutta is an excellent place for learning. It is among the top 10 Universities in India. It has a glorious past record. The alumni network of this University is very large. The admission procedure for BTech(4 years) totally depends upon WBJEE and there is another program, that is BTech ( 3 year's Lateral entry or Bsc-Btech). I have preferred this Collage for the quality of education which is provided by this University. If you want to get an education from top notch faculty members ., then join Calcutta University. But here's a difficulty, that is the percentage of attendance. Calcutta University mainly focusses on your academic only. But the placement of this Collage is good.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

All the teachers are well educated and most of them have done their PhD from IIT, IISc, NIT'sand other foreign Universities. All the teachers are well experienced. So now you can think about the quality of education. The CSE, IT, OOE Department are located in the Technology campus of Saltlake (CRNN, centre for research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology) and the JFT(jute& fibre) is situated in Bullyguange. The other departments ECE(IRPE, the institution of Radio Physics and Electronics), IE, EE, ChE, CT, PST all are in Rajabazar Science Collage. All the departments are DST funded.

Internships Opportunities

5

I am again telling you about the Chemical Engineering Department. Companies like IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, BARC, ONGC, Tata Chemical, Haldia petrochemical, Asian paint, Berger's, Balmer Lawrie, IOC patrons, ADANI Willmar, Exide battery, Linde, IFFCO, etc and many others provide internships.

Placement Experience

4.5

Before the placement statistics you have to Know one thing that is Calcutta University has started 4 year's BTech in 2015, before it, the University used to provide a Bsc BTech program for 80 years (approx). So, now you can imagine the alumni network and the reputation of this Institution in the corporate field. The average package is all around 5-6 LPA. I am giving you the placement statistics of my department that is Chemical Engineering. Among all Department in CU, Chemical Engineering Department has the highest placement statistics. About 90% of the batch is placed every year. Companies like Haldia petrochemical, Technip, Linde, Hindustan Unilever, Excide Battery, Balmaer Lawrie, Asian paint, Berger, Appolo tire, BARC, IOCL, ONGC, Diamond Beverage, Sun pharma, Pfizer etc, provide Placement and internship opportunities. The average package of Chemical Engineering is 5.5-6 LPA. And the other departments has also a good placement record

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure for BTech is very less. You may have to pay around 32k in 4 years. Yes, there are many scholarships available in college. I am not sure about the hostel fees but it is a very minimum amount as compared to other universities.

Campus Life

4

Obviously, there's an annual fest on every campus of this University. Which is quite good not so good as the IIT's, NIT's. But it is very good. And the library is very very good. There's a lot of books. The central library is located on the College Street campus ( main campus). But there is also a well-equipped library in every campus.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
