Remarks
IIFT is among the top 15 B schools in India and the foremost when it comes to trade. The forms for admission came out in August, the exam was in November. The GDPI was conducted in February and the results came out in May. The good points about the college are - placements, infrastructure and faculty. The bad points are - slow pace in getting work done and poor quality mess food. IIFT is mentioned in every forum which discusses MBA colleges, there is no single platform. There is no doubt that it is a well known B school in India.
Course Curriculum Overview
With 400 students in the current batch, the faculty-student ratio is 1:6. I chose this course because of bright career prospects in the future in the realm of marketing, finance and trade. Some of the faculties here directly work with the Government of India on various trade projects and there is no doubt they are among the brightest in the country. The case study methodology is followed. Exams are conducted timely but the results take a long time, over 6 months.
Internships Opportunities
There are more than 100 companies that offer internship roles and the median stipend is Rs 1.6 lakhs for 2 months. We are not allowed to speak about projects in detail due to confidentiality clauses.
Placement Experience
4th semester marks are needed for final placements, 123 companies visited last year with an average CTC of 18 lakhs. The highest is usually 50 lakhs but that is when USD is converted to INR for international placements. Almost everyone gets a job. Less than 10 percent of students opt-out. Even the lowest is 12 lakhs. No particulars plans as of now, just going with the flow
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees as of now are 18 lakhs for tuition pls another 3 lakhs for the hostel and mess over 2 years. Fees are usually hiked by 5 percent a year. I did not get any scholarship or financial assistance since I am from the general category. I am currently in 1st year so the question of job and stipend is not applicable to me
Campus Life
The batch of 2020 had their entire 1st year online due to Covid 19 hence we unable to comment on classrooms, library and sports facilities. Events by clubs were also conducted online. There are many such clubs and committees for finance, marketing, consulting etc
Hostel Facilities
NH hostel is within the campus itself and C9 is 15 min walking distance. For the batch of 2020, classes were online so we haven't seen our hostels yet, however, we were told that the admin has made arrangements with OYO rooms for additional hostels as well, details of which are not known to us as of now
Interview Experience
The topic of the GD was regarding India's decision to pull out of the RCEP, interview questions revolved around my undergraduate subjects and work experience besides a few current affairs. There was a WAT whose topic was crop stubble burning in NCR. I prepared by reading the interview experience of past students and reading the newspapers on a regular basis.
