Remarks
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade has a 53-year old legacy, a pedigree that very few B-Schools in India can lay claim to. With an illustrious list of brands recruiting in both Summers and Final Placements and the close synergy that IIFT has with not just age-old organizations, but also new-age startups, it is an ideal destination to fulfil our career aspirations. While yes, there are other premier colleges as well, the opportunity to be part of a legacy that is represented by over 14000+ alumni all over the world, is a chance that I could not miss. Apart from this, the unique proposition that IIFT provides, which is its MBA in International Business, is something that was highly attractive. The chance to graduate and be part of the International Business Division across top organizations presents a career path which I really wanted to work towards. With regards to sources, I relied on word-of-mouth experience from previous students and also Paagalguy, CollegeDunia, Inside IIM.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course, which is an MBA in International Business was a very attractive proposition for me as I had a desire to work in synergy with not just Indian markets, but also international, post my MBA. The world being what it is, and the Globalization that has truly encompassed the economy means countries and organizations can no longer work in silos. The unique curriculum that IIFT provides, apart from covering the basic tenets of Marketing, Operations, Finance, Strategy, and IT, along the way, gives me the chance to pursue my dream. The faculty is highly experienced and we are challenged to provide case-based solutions and think analytically, not just in tests but also in daily classes. The individuality of thought is sought, rather than conventional solutions. Mode of exams and testing are flexible and generally decided by the faculty as they devise a myriad of ways to test us on our knowledge.
Internships Opportunities
Summer internship placement drive happens for the 1st years, in which everyone is given the chance to sit for Internships across roles like Sales & Marketing, Finance, Operations, and IT, and we play host to a lot of reputed organizations.
Placement Experience
Summer placements go in parallel with the first trimester. The highest package in Summer Placement Drive was 3.2 Lakhs for 2 months, while the average was 1.61 Lakhs. Also, IIFT has completed 100% of its Summer Placements. My plan after getting my MBA Degree is to work in the FMCG sector, in a Sales & Marketing Role.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are around 18 lakhs for the 2-year program. I do not have details of any scholarship and financial assistance schemes being provided, so I cannot comment on that. Also, I have secured a Summer Internship Offer from ITC.
Campus Life
The annual trade summit, trade winds is the flagship event of the Institute in which esteemed speakers and dignitaries from all sectors and industries are invited. The cultural summit is called Quo Vadis with regards to library facilities, amenities, and sports activities, since this time the course has been virtual, I am not aware of the details. However, there are a lot of student-run bodies on the campus, including committees and clubs. This includes the Marketing Society, Finance Society, Trade, Media Committee, Cultural Committee, Alumni Body, etc.
Interview Experience
GD and PI were included in the admission process. The GD topic was regarding the feasibility of achieving a 5 Trillion Dollar Economy as a nation and what were steps we need to take to go towards that. Overall preparation included being aware of the news, which I gained from my regular habit of reading the newspaper, having an opinion about current affairs, and also an in-depth understanding of the various projects I had undertaken in my academic career which were in my CV. Since I had prior work experience, I prepared regarding the minute details of that so that I could explain my role effectively in an interview setting.
