Like every DU aspirant, I was looking for a college that could help me to get the imagination of my dream college fulfilled. Dyal Singh College was the best fit among all the colleges I was eligible to take admission into. Although the college has its reputation for violent and bad student politics, DSC is completely different from what its reputation says. As I am a commerce student, I run a check on its commerce department and I come to know that the commerce department of DSC is one of the best commerce departments in South campus colleges. Their faculty is extremely experienced. Also, I was interested in debating, and considering that the debating society of DSC is one of the best debsoc in DU, I planned to take admission here. Apart from my personal preferences, what really makes DSC the best college is - 1. One of the largest campus 2. Excellent ECA societies 3. Only college located next to metro station and bus depot 4. One of the best ranking colleges in DU 5. Excellent faculty.

As I am a commerce student, I opted for BCom Hons because this course will help you to understand the idea of commerce in the corporate sector. Finance, business, and accounts are subjects being studied in this course and my interest in these subjects are what makes me choose this course. Also, the faculty of commerce department of DSC is extremely professional. There are professors who have multiple degrees in commerce and a rich experience in terms of years. I personally felt that our professors are very understanding and students Nd teachers share a very understanding bond. In terms of the regularity of classes and IAs, the faculty is kind of good in that area. Classes are being held until duta decides otherwise. As for the internal assessment, the university guidelines are being followed in DSC.

Placement cell does provide internship opportunities to a student of all years. Most of them are paid and that's a good thing. The main domain for internships are sales, marketing, hr, and content writing. Stipends are generally and come under the range of 3-10k (maximum).

The placement cell of DSC is very active. You can start doing internships from your very first year. Internships go on during the whole year. Placements are usually happening in the last or second last semester mainly for final year students. The main domain for which the recruitment drives are conducted are - Sales, Marketing, Accounting, and HR. The major companies that visit our campus are - KPMG, EY, GENPACT, JARO EDUCATION, WIRPO, and other companies with an average package of 3-3.5 lakhs, students do get nice offers from these companies. The highest package for the year 2020-21 was approximately near 5-6 LPA. There are a good number of students getting placements. Since I am planning for professional courses, I haven't sat for any placements but my friends do sit for the placements and as per the reviews, I can assure you that if you have the right amount of talent and zeal, you are not going to be graduate with empty hands.

The fee structure for the commerce department is affordable. For a general student of the commerce department, the annual fees in the first year are somewhere around 13k and that becomes 10k or nearby in the second and third year. For the examination, an additional fee of 1000 or nearby is being charged by faculty before every semester exams. For students with special economic condition, the faculty also provide relaxation in fees and this facility can be availed by any student qualifying to certain parameters, as decided by college. Also several scholarships like Sh. Sultan Chand scholarship and Dr. Usha Aggarwal tejaswini scholarship are also provided to meritorious students. Other than that, the placement cell of DSC is fabulous. Internships are being offered throughout the years and at the end of the year placements drives are so being conducted in which big companies like Genpact, kpmg, EY, and Soori recruits our students.

Campus life in DSC is very chill. If you are leaned toward eca activities then you can join societies. DSC's fashion society, dance society, and debating society are one the best society in DU. You can make new friends in this society and improve your personality. We also have an annual fest named priyadarshini. Other than that department fest of commerce society, political science society are also very famous and worth being a part of. If you are a book freak then the library is all yours. With a separate section of each category of knowledge, there are thousands of books in the library Nd also a quiet and sound reading section separately designed to allow students to study. All the classrooms are adequately and perfectly equipped with benches, fans, and lights. Few society that I would suggest to be a part of are 1. Cognitio 2. Astitva 3. Zest 4. Spilledink 5. Jamini 6. Zest and all other ECA societies.
