Remarks

As I heard from my seniors DU is famous for its rich culture of societies and will provide me with maximum exposure. SGTB Khalsa College provided me with a lot of great opportunities being a part of various societies and organising events. What I felt as the bad aspect of the college was lack of cooperation when it came to teachers. My admission usually took place in August and as soon as the cut offs came I was supposed to head to the college in which I qualified and then the teachers guided us further. I read various reviews of SGTB Khalsa College from Quora and my cousin was also a part of this college. Hence I chose this college. She told me about the enriching the environment was and what a wonderful time she had. If you ever get a chance to live that life you are lucky. Jannat genuinely feels Jannat when staying in Khalsa.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Computer Science Hons was always my field of interest my main reason for choosing this course was my love for this field. The faculty of computer science is very helpful. They usually motivate the students to learn much more things than just our course and appreciate us having more knowledge than required. The CS department consists of 7 to 8 teachers and around 45 students in the class. Their teaching methods were not at all traditional. We had internals every now and then and they were tricky but easy to pass. Then we also had sem exams every 6 months.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

The various companies that came for internships are Chegg, muses marketing, uolo, eat my news, lenskart foundation etc. The various profiles offered were social media marketing manager, intern, Sales and Marketing, HR etc. Striped was the highest for Chegg with approx 10K to 30K for subject matter expert. For social media manager, we usually had to handle their social media profile and for the content creator, we had to create content for their social media. So Khalsa does provide a lot of opportunities for freshers with various profiles and companies.

Placement Experience

4

3rd-year students are eligible for placements. The highest package of 2020 was of Mc Kinsey with 8lpa and average package of SGTB Khalsa 3 to 4 LPA. The students are mostly places from commerce courses as the big fours come for them. The percentage of students getting placed is 60% and I feel, I might opt for a job after a degree which is suitable as everything is work from home for now.

Fees and Financial Aid

SGTB Khalsa College usually has more fees than other colleges my fees was 28k approx for every year and it was a 3-year course. The scholarships can be provided for students who are financially weak. I have been placed in the company planet spark with a 32k per month stipend. It is an ed-tech company that provided students with courses in verbal communication and personality development.

Campus Life

4

Sarahna the annual fest of SGTB Khalsa College is a three-day Fun fest conducted in the month of March. On the first two days, we have various societies setting up stalls and organising games. On the third day, a singer comes. The tech fest is also organised during sarahna only by the computer science society. SGTB Khalsa has one of the biggest libraries in DU and has availability of almost all the books. Apart from the course books, we have journals and magazines and newspapers available too. Most of the classrooms consist of Air conditioner and a projector with a lot of seating space. Sports quota students are allowed to play sports and represent the college. Other students are allowed the field but they don't represent the college. The ground of SGTB Khalsa College is huge. Various societies like national service scheme, placement cell, etram (dance society), Ankur (theatre society) etc are a part of SGTB Khalsa College.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel facility is okay. There was a water shortage at times. And a few times the food was also not that clean. The quality of the food is not that good at times and if you are a choosy person the menu will also disturb you. The main benefit of staying in the hostel was its distances from college. It is very convenient for us whenever there is a break in classes to come back to the hostel and have lunch or take some rest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
