Entrance Preview

To get admission into MCA in NIT's you need to qualify for All India Level NIMCET. Then you need to attend counseling procedure and according to your marks and ranking you get one among all 11 NIT's which offer the course.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Course curriculum was great and up to the mark, perfect in the sense you get proper time for studies and your projects as well. They students get well structured opportunities for doing extra curriculum activities too. Students have optional subjects in semesters so that they can choose according to their interests.

Internships Opportunities

Internships for short term of courses are provided by college and the stipend depends on the course and other details.

Placement Experience

5

There are great placement opportunities in NITK and we get good curriculum for study which helps in placement preparation simultaneously. Over 120+ companies come for placement for MCA's and more even. You have company packages vary between 5LPA - 20LPA which is too good.

College Events

5

NITK is all about knowledge and fun when it comes to events. Also we do lot of social activities with many clubs involved. I was "ACTIVITY COORDINATOR" for Genesis which is a social club in NITK working for children welfare.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes as i mentioned above there is good scholarship and loan facilities in NITK and you can be sure that you can complete your education without a lot of load on your parents after entering college. Its good to be independent and you learn a lot. Varieties of culture and nice circle helps you to do that. College faculties and Branch loan office is very comfortable to do that.

Campus Life

5

Campus life is awesome and gender ratio is almost equal throughout NITK. But yes surely varies from course to course, we cannot scare it from like decided to be. Many opportunities for all kind of events like robotics, debate, extempore, technical speaking, multi language debates, cultural events, social events and work. Basically you learn a lot for your interests and even you start teaching too.

Alumni/Alumna

Great alumni network is there. There is a strong bond between levels. You get a lot of help for placement studies and all other things from seniors. Its good that we stay connected on social platforms as well and even after years we have the same respect and relationship and duty feeling towards our mates and college juniors.

Exam Structure

The exam structure and labs were punctual and regular weekly. You don't get lot of leaves during the exams which I think is good in one way. But yes you get enough time to prepare and score well. I was always very satisfied with the structure for exams.

Faculty

5

The faculty in NITK Surathkal are simply awesome. You can reach out to them at any point of time for your queries. They help you well in your projects as well. I remember attending some extended lab hours with one of the programming teacher in my initials days.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are average. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 2nd semester. Some companies visit the college and offer jobs in different roles. The average package is around 3-4 LPA and the highest package depends on the company. After completing my degree, I plan to get a good job and gain experience in my field

Placements are good...lot of my friends got placed. But it even depends on individual intrests. At starting you get paid less but later on experience u can earn more. In case if placement doesn't happen you will still have the chance to explore outside.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The MCA course curriculum is well structured, relevant, and comprehensive. It covers core computer science subjects such as programming, data structures, databases, software engineering, and practical lab work, which influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a strong foundation for both real-world applications and further academic pursuits. With the support of good and experienced faculty, concepts are explained clearly through theory, practical sessions, assignments, and projects. Exams are conducted on a semester basis with internal assessments and end-semester examinations. The frequency and timing of exams are appropriate, and the difficulty level is moderate. Students who attend classes regularly and follow faculty guidance can perform well.
