Remarks
I chose Manipal Institue of Technology as it is an international level of college providing you great exposure and a well-supported faculty with most of them being PhD holders with 198 acres of campus under MIT, comes a 6 floored Marina Sports Complex as the college doesn't compromise with student's health and fitness. Above all comes some cons as there are fewer opportunities for core branches such as Aeronautical Engineering and many more and 75% attendance is a must even if you are a 10cgpa holder. The admission process begins with filling up the MAHE Entrance Test form obtaining a score out of 800 and therefore giving you an All India Rank. One has to go through a counselling procedure to get a branch according to your MET scores. I preferred this college because of its great placement stats and the cultural diversity provided through a variety of hubs and societies. Collegedunia.com, Quora, Manipalblog.com and various other college reviews on youtube helped me select this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have a keen interest in coding and web development and therefore I chose Computer and Communications Engineering(CCE). Also being a mainstream branch, placement stats of CCE are great. This college holds a good faculty: student ratio i.e 1:13. The majority of faculty members are PhD holders and put a great effort into making students well-known with their subject leading to a great teacher-student relationship. Sessionals occur every alternate month and are comparatively easy as compared to end semesters which are a bit difficult to score in.
Internships Opportunities
Internship rates are splendid. Companies like Optum, Samsung, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs and many more, there are many internship opportunities. There are many student projects which involve Robotics, ISRO, AI, Drones, Formula Racing which give students a great learning experience and great exposure.
Placement Experience
The 5th and 6th semester involve your internship opportunities and 7th semester onwards you are eligible for the placement rounds. With 250+ recruiting companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, Deshaw, Goldman Sachs, Dell etc, 1089 offers, INR 7.5 lakhs avg package, INR 6.2 Lakhs as median salary and the highest package offered to be INR 43 Lakhs, the placements stats are pretty good. ALmost 60-70% of students get placed every year. After getting the bachelors degree, I may go for higher education or will opt for a job.
Fees and Financial Aid
As compared to other colleges, MIT is a bit expensive with INR 1760000 as tuition fees, including hostel and mess charges sums up to a total of approximately INR 24-25L. MET rank 1-100 gets freeship, therefore, paying just for their accommodation while for others having their rank under 5000, get scholarships according to their branch. 5% of students of every branch get a scholarship based on their MET scores. AICTCE scholarship is there for lower-middle-class students who have their annual family income below 8 LAKHS.
Campus Life
MIT conducts its annual fest REVELS in the month of March and its tech-fest TECHTATVA is organised in the month of October every year. There is a 4 floored MIT Central Library with a large number of books as well as e-books. It also has an individual study hall, a group study hall and a library auditorium as well. Classrooms are full ac having enough space and digital doors. There is a 6 floored Marina Sports Complex having well-equipped gymnasiums, squash courts, swimming pools etc. There are many sports societies which help you take part in inter-college sports competitions. ALLMITY website and app is developed by MIT students for the students of this college.
Hostel Facilities
The room comes with a bed and mattress, a study table and chair, an almirah, an attached bathroom and well enough space for you to keep books and other things. Food quality provided is average with a variety in the menu. The registration process involved booking the hostels beforehand online through their official website.
