Remarks
Good aspects- various good aspects are there such as it's a government college, an autonomous body, highly skilled Faculties, Good educational environment as well as the geographical environment, Helpful alumnus and many more. Cons- it's an autonomous body which is a good thing though it has its own bad aspects, it's really tough to get high marks. There is fewer deficiency in labs etc. Admission process- One can take admission through WBJEE into the first year of B.Tech or through JELET- Lateral entry to the second year of B.TECH. Dates are as usual notified by Government. The reason I choose- keeping an eye on my merit this was my first priority and I got it. It's 3rd most preferable government college in West Bengal. And recently it became a Tier-II college. Also what I loved about Jgec are its faculties and its weather.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose ECE because I had a diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications previously. And I am an Electronics enthusiastic person. I love to work in this domain. The faculty: students ratio about 1:15. Most of the faculties are PhD holders and everyone is highly skilled in teaching as usual. There are two-term exams before the final semester and it's a little bit tough to pass compared to other colleges in West Bengal.
Placement Experience
From the 7-semester campus, placements start. CTS and TCS visit every year and the individual take a good number of percentage among the students. The highest package till now is 30L/ annum. Average package 2.5-3L/ annum. The placement of mother trades is poor in performance. Mainly IT personnel get placed easily.
Fees and Financial Aid
In mother trade the fees structure is minimal. In ECE, CSE is 14400/ year. COST OF STUDY is very minimal and affordable. Scholarship/ financial opportunities are huge in jgec, there are State government scholarship, NSP, and who don't get a scholarship they get financial assistance from college as FFS(FULL FREE SCHOLARSHIP)/ HFS(HALF FREE SCHOLARSHIP) and also apart from that there are many alumni sponsored scholarships. CTS and TCS hire most from jgec on-campus. This year highest CTC was 30L/annum (off-campus).
Campus Life
Annual Fest - JECLAT which is the biggest fest in North Bengal, India generally conducted in the month of June. Tech fest- SRISTI mainly conducted into the month of February. The availability of books, journals in the library is quite good. The old library contains more than 10000 books. A new three floors library building is in making progress which gonna be the first one of its kind in North Bengal. Football, Cricket, Basketball, volleyball are played on a college campus. Jgec holds the inter-college championship in football for consecutive 2 years. Extracurricular activities like Marathon Race, Environment cleaning, blood donation camp and many more organised by students association. Jgec is full of club/ social groups. Jyoti- a free night education school for poor children driven by us( students), Trekking club, Music club, Dance club, Rotaract club, SAAC (SPACE AND AERONAUTICS CLUB), drama club, and many more.
