NISTians do freak out entertainment is also a major part of the curriculum at NIST. We lay special focus on the students' overall progress and growth with a strong emphasis on sports and extra-curricular activities. The college organizes various inter-college competitions. Cultural events are held during college festivals. The NIST-ISTE chapter holds a three-day All-India event called "SANKALP" each year comprising more than 25 technical and cultural programs. A special event called "Waves", held every year, highlights the cultural talent of our incoming batch. "Waves" is a smash-hit with students. It is replete with dances, debates, skits, mono-acting, just-a-minute sessions, painting, cartooning, tattoo-making, dumb charades, antakshari, rapid-fire quiz and multi-cultural fashion parade. I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
