Remarks
I chose this college because it is simply the best one in our country at the moment. As soon as I got selected in Miranda House, I knew I am not going to switch to any other college and that is going to be my home away from home for the next three years. I got selected in the 4th cut off which was 96.5 for the general category. It took place in November 2020.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I had a keen interest in Mathematics from the very beginning. Numbers always attracted me and I loved playing with them. Unfortunately, in Mathematics Hons. Course, there is not much to do with numbers as we tend to focus more on the concepts but I am liking it so far. The professors are great here. For the four papers, we have different teachers for different papers. The students to professor ratio are 35:1 which is fairly low. Each professor focuses on individual students via tutorials. The lab classes are very interesting and the professor shows everything practically. The exams were moderate and the paper was exciting. We got a study leave of 15 days and a session break of one week.
Internships Opportunities
Various internship opportunities are provided in my college by companies like Younity, market, etc. Various certificates are provided to the students on the completion of their internship program. The stipend is, most of the time, performance-based. I have recently signed up for an internship with Younity in their Sales and Marketing department. It has a performance-based stipend of upto 5,000 INR
Placement Experience
I have heard that the placement opportunities are great here and the candidates are offered 6 digit salaries in the first year of being a graduate itself. Placement opportunities are given to the students in their final year and after a round of selection and interviews, the deserving candidates are selected.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of my colleagues are as low as 17,100 INR per annum. This makes the college affordable for the lower middle class income group as well as the moderately poor people. All the other charges such as tution fees, lab fees, library fees, examination fees, etc. are included in this amount which makes the parents tension-free for the rest of the year. The needy get various opportunities to earn attractive scholarships as well as other advances.
Campus Life
Having been a part of the 'unlucky' batch of 2021, I have so far not experienced the campus life but I did get the opportunity to attend the fresher's party and various other fests in the online mode. TEMPEST is one of the biggest fests in the mathematics department of Miranda House. It was so much fun to attend it and I experienced a lot of new things.
Interview Experience
I did not have to face any interviews as I had chosen to get merit-based admission. The procedure here in Delhi University is that they release various cut-offs to fill the seats and they provide various relaxations for the reserved categories as well as female candidates. In order to prepare for my admissions in DU, I knew I had to do well in my XIIth std. boards so fortunately I did not have to prepare for it separately.
