My college is one of the best in the state. The campus is huge, lush green, a great place to spend four memorable years.

WBJEE 2000 I got a rank of 1678. There were many options open. I choose EE in JGEC because of the facilities, it is a govt college and one does not need to pay hefty amount of money.

The course curriculum was at par with other top Universities. It included generalized theory of machines which is not offered elsewhere. The power electronics lab facility was superb. The department focused on niche areas like load flow solution, embedded system, place programming etc.

In my college days there was no internship. But after it got Deemed University status internship is now available.

Major companies include, Cognizant technology solutions, Tata consultancy services, Wipro technologies, M n dastur, Dcl the average starting package is 5lakh per annum. Also, the students get the opportunity of going for off campusing as well.

There are various clubs where students can get associated with. Membership fees are not required to get into these clubs. The various clubs are listed below : Drama club, Cultural club, Social, Music Club califony, Trekking , Photography, Apart from these, regular sports events are organized. The college has a world class gymnasium.

The college is a government sponsored one, hence the fee structure is not at all expensive when i studied there, the tuition fees were 2400 rupees per year. Apart from that there were nominal hostel fees the seat rent was 25 rupees per month, and electricity cost was another 25.

Yes, the college it self provides free scholarship for the needy students. But they have to provide the annual income certificate signed by a designated authority. The most needy ones would get the opportunity where the college fees would get waived off.

The college is located off the SH12, and on the boundary of a lush green tea Estates. Two small rivers pass through the campus, making it one of the most beautiful campuses of the country. The annual social event organized by the social committee is one of the largest event in the state. The gender ratio was not good earlier however it is improving.

The college has five hostels, four for boys and one ladies hostels. Boys hostels are two storied, hence lift is not there. Each hostel has separate canteen and mess the mess food is good, for non vegetarians it can't go any better. Three days a week chicken in dinner, rest four days fish at lunch and egg at dinner.

The college was established in 1961, and possesses, 65 years of great heritage the alumni association is headquartered at Kolkata and is really helpful.

We used to follow semester system. Every six months there used to be one semester. Total eight semesters consisted of the curriculum.in each semester, there used to be theory and practical classes both. For the theoretical papers, 20 marks were kept for class test and rest for the final exam.

The electrical engineering department exists in the college since the inception and there was no dearth of faculty. Every subject had specialized teachers. Besides there were lab assistance available to help the student carrying there practical sessions the head of the department was strict and yet very helpful towards students the teacher student relationship was very cordial.
