Remarks

Actually it was not always in my hand, as per my rank I was allotted this college, though its 3rd most preferable college in West Bengal. Apart from that recently it became Tier 3 college. There is two entrance exams to take admission in this college 1) WBJEE, 2) JEELET(for diploma candidate). As JEELET is for diploma candidates so they get promoted to 2nd year directly. I got that college by JEELET and after got my allotment paper I took admission in Computer Science and Engineering Department which is my most favorite stream. And yes I knew that college very well before took admission because I had a senior who was in 3rd year at that time, so I didn't have to check anywhere about the college. If I talk about other stream specially IT department then that department is not so good as other departments. I must say as it is an Autonomous college, its very difficult to get mark which is its bad aspects in its own. And the other bad aspects is availability of new edition books in Library.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I must say I am very lucky that I got chance to take admission at Computer Science department, because the faculty members are just too good, well skilled, most of them are PHD scholar, so there is no question about their teaching style or etc. In cse department there is 16 facility members and 68 students. Specially in our department faculties always inspired us to do codes, internship. Most of the faculties used to share real life example like how much import of a Computer Engineer to study cause we are the future cause everything is now depends on technology, so they inspired us a lot, advice us to attend seminar, specially to get internship. Apart from that in between 6 month we have to attend two internal and have to submit 1-2 assignment and finally at the end the semester they conduct semester which would be easy if I took classes regularly otherwise its tough to get high marks in sem.

Placement Experience

3

Basically from 7th semester campus recruitment get start, and TCS and Cognizant take participate at every year. These companies are just for IT based so for non IT department placement performance is poor. Till now 30LPA is offered to a student of our college, and at average 2 - 3 LPA is offered. But both companies recruits 30-40 students on average in individual. So easily I can say for IT or CSE 60-70% get placed. I have been planning for a job too, till now don't have any interest of doing master's.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are not constant for all trade like for Computer Science and Electronics department we have to pay 7200 per semester (mid semester) and 8200 per semester(odd semester) but for Mechanical, Electrical the amount is less. Though the amount affordable still there is various scholarship specially SVMCM, Minority scholarship etc. There is also a good option in our college is Full Free Scholarship and Half Free Scholarship. So its not so tough to pay the fee as I can get any of the scholarship I mentioned, its quite affordable for everyone. After the 7th semester campus Placement get start Cognizant and TCS came every year and yes both of them specially for CSE, IT and ECE department. So for others trade there no option for campus recruitment, but they have options for higher studies and also for Govt. job.

Campus Life

5

Due to the pandemic I didn't get enough chances to experience everything but amount of time I spent in our campus is just enough to describe. SRISTI the name of our tech fest which is conduct by 3rd year in March and annual fest is JECKLET the largest , well know fest in North Bengal, generally it conducted in month if June. Our library is too big, so obviously capacity is too big, journals and books are available but books are old edition. But classrooms have enough space, no issue electricity or laboratory. At every January our sports club organize sports like Cricket, football , marathon, 100m race etc. And the main good things of our college is they are also looking for our extra curricular activities that's why there are varieties of club like Sports club, Space club, Coding Club, Trekking Club, Jyoti. Jyoti club is for poor children, we students teaches them every day, and also take drawing classes. And also there is a Alumni Group to help needy people.

Interview Experience

3

I am in 6th and campus interview mostly starts from 7th semester so haven't experienced any interview. But I know a bit of those, yes there is a GD and also a PI, GD round is not so tough we can passed it if we practiced a bit, and personal interview also not so tough, with some practice of core subjects we can also cracked it. If I talk about the process then that is common like 1st aptitude test then general round, technical round. In technical round we are mostly asked about programming. After that GD and the PI , in PI they just check our coding knowledge obviously for CSE department.

Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
