Mehnaz's Review On Handique Girls College, Guwahati

This college includes only girls students. It's faculty is very good. College admission process is totally on merit based. About 2500 girls students enroll in college every year. This college is situated on the western bank of the picturesque and the historic Dighalipukhuri, Guwahati.

I have more interest in politics so I chose Political Science (Honours) as my graduation subject. College faculty is very good. About 2500 girls students take admission every year. Qualifications is teachers is PhD. Exams are taken in four phases- unit test, assignment, sessional and final. Exams are not difficult to pass, if we prepare ourselves thoroughly than it becomes easy for us to pass.

I have opted for internship in various organisation. Some of them are - right now I am working in an School internship in HR field, I am also doing and international more internship in United nation organisation. I am also looking forward for different opportunities which help me to gain nursery work skills and values in my future career.

The college has established network with several recruitment agencies for offering placement opportunities to the final year students and the pass out students through campus interviews. The placement cell regularly organizes various programs for enhancing employability of the students through workshops personality development camps and IT skill development camps. Every year good amount of girls student that's placement in good companies. My plans after graduation is pursuing my post graduation and my Honours subject.

Life at campus is very enjoyable.We all girls participate in annual fest which held once in a year. We also take part in different kinds of co- curricular activities like food Fest, model making, extempore speech etc. There are different kinds of committees like assamese literary committee, economy society etc,in college. It is well developed library withholdings a book about 51,000; journals about 19 and journals about 6,000 etc. the college also has a cadet facility which provide very hygienic food to all the students.

The eligible students of the college can avail all the awards and scholarships offered by the state and Central government every year. in order to avoid this awards and scholarships the student need to contact the college authority. the college also offers various scholarship awards medals to the meritorious students based on their academic performances.

College infrastructure is imense good. It has a playground where all girls play basketball. It has a college library and each department has a departmental library. The library has an impressive collection of books newspaper journals e - resources. Library membership is given to all the bonafide members of the college. It also has a laboratory with all good equipments.

No I have not opted for hostel. But I can brief details about it. The college has its own hostel on the eastern bank of Digahalipukhuri,Guwahati. It is name after poet and the renowned literatur, the late Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi, who was one of the famous alumni of the institution. Admission to the college hostel is granted only after the admission is finalised. The college alerts hostel accommodation to only BA /BCA /BSc students. Number of hostel seeds is limited and admission is given strictly on the basis of academic merit. The hostel facility is really very good. It has hygienic environment and provide a good meal to the girls. Meal timings is strictly adhered to by the residents. Many good PGs are also available near college area.
