Remarks
First factor would be that it is a NIT, which means it has national importance and is one of the top NITs in India. Second factor is that it is near my home town Vadodara and would be easy for me to travel to and fro. It is situated in most developed area of the city and is easily accessible.
Course Curriculum Overview
Talking about faculty, they good. Some of them are coming from IISc Bangalore and so they are having a good grasp of what they are teaching.In first year the phd scholars teaches students. Student ratio is around 4:1. There are two main term exams mid-sem and end-sem. And there are two quizzes, one before mid-sem and one before end-sem. Practicals are performed regularly and there are practical exams before end-sem. The difficulty of the papers is moderate. All the syllabus is strictly from what faculties are teaching in the class.
Placement Experience
At end of second year you get internship offers, and in 7th sem you can get placement. Some MNCs like amazon, DE Shaw, JP Morgan, Microsoft, HP, Gojek, HSBC etc. visited the campus.
College Events
Campus size is around 250 acres and so there is a lot of room to roam around. You make friends here easily. Talking about clubs, there are a lot of it. For every activity there is a club here. You name it and we have club for it. Mind-bend and Sparsh are the main tech and cultural fest respectively of this college and are quite successful. Various competitions are organised by clubs here.
Campus Life
Sports facilities are quite good which include all the mainstream sports like tennis court(2), cricket ground, football ground, AC badminton court(2), table tennis, Gym, basketball court(2). Wifi is available in almost all part of campus including hostels and the speed is quite high (range 10mbps-100mbps). NIT Surat's library is one of the best compared to any Institute. Its fully Air-conditioned, and contains books for almost any field. NIT Surat also provides e-library access to access some reputed journals which are very expensive for any average student to purchase. Labs are well equipped.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel here and quite good and are kept clean. All the repair works if want is done as soon as informed to the incharge of your wing. Hostels have mess, tv room, study room, parking for cycles, library, gym, table-tennis room. Hostels are well equipped with WIFI with good speeds. Meal quality is quite good and the menu changes every 1 or 2 months. Specially for girls their mess and food quality is better then many restaurants.
