About Goenka college, Kolkata

I choose Goenka College, Kolkata because it is one of the best colleges of not only Kolkata but it is one of the best colleges in India. The admission was merit-based so I had no problem in getting into the college. The merits of this college are as follows: 1. The teachers here are very helpful and encouraging. 2. The infrastructure of the college is very fascinating. 3. The commerce faculty of the college is very good. 4. The college provides us with many opportunities via different socities, clubs and cells to interact with different people. 5. The college and the fests of my college grabs the attention of the whole city. The demerits of the college are as follows: 1. The attendance requirement of the college is very high. 2. The teachers are a bit strict.

I chose B.Com Hons. because I'm a student of commerce background and I have a deep interest in this field. I choosing B.Com Hons. at this level would surely do me good in future. The student's numbers are quite reasonable per class. And qualification of teachers out here is reasonably high. They're all well qualified and really helpful when it comes to helping their students. Most of the teachers are a holder of PhD degree and all of them have a minimum of B.Ed degree. Talking about the exams, the exams were very easy to pass. Online exams weren't very hectic. We were well prepared beforehand only by the faculty so we didn't have any problem in giving the exams.

The placement percentage of the college is around 94%. The average salary package offered for freshers is 1.5 LPA. The highest salary package offered can be up to 4 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is around 1 LPA. All interested students get internships in various research laboratories, diagnostic companies, food and water industries and also in various biotech and pharmaceutical companies. Some of the top recruiting companies include Medreich, Indoco, BCIL, Suraksha Diagnostic, Lal Pathlabs, various CSIR and DBT research institutes all over India, Biocon, etc. Top roles are mostly offered in the research and development wing of industries and PhD supervisor, principal investigator, quality control, clinical analysis, etc.

The fee of my college is very low because it's a full government college and the whole of the fundings are received by the government The fee for 1 year is around 1020, which is reasonably very low. The fees for the whole course is around 3060. Also, there is some reduction in the fees for the weaker section of the society. The reserved category of students enjoys some of the benefits.

'Goenka Quest' is the annual cultural fest organised by our college every year. Our college has its own canteen, gym, library and game room, but the gym and canteen have never been opened in our course time. Our college does not have any medical facility and ground of its own. Classrooms are big enough for around 100 students, and it always remains clean. The different socities and clubs help us to build our personality and give us many opportunities to work and help us to know our intrest areas.
