It was year 2002 when i appeared for Bihar state engg entrance exam and got rank that qualified me to get state quota seat in NITK in Mech. The admission process for me was simple as seats were enough to choose from in RECs.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum was excellent. Teachers were superb and very supportive. Study materials and assignments were interesting. Overall it was a good experience during entire 4 years of college. Research scholars were also in good amount in the college and they were having classes to offer as part of their syllabus.
Internships Opportunities
At our time, internship was not provided by our college. Some companies offered stipend to students from our college and stipend was at par with good colleges. Overall experience was good.
Placement Experience
Almost all the good companies from all sectors come for placement. Placement is also comparable to IITs. Some reputable IT companies do bulk placement and are offered first entry to college. Many MNCs also join along with big PSUs in recruiting good number of students.
College Events
Every year 1 cultural and 1 technical fests are being organised in our college. More than 30-35 engineering and other universities join and compete for coveted prizes in various categories. Judges comprise of different colleges and the prizes are also good. Main attraction of cultural fest is latest musical band which entertain everyone.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is very feasible and affordable. Fee structure consists of tution fee, hostel fee, caution money, canteen fee, library and sports fee. Caution money is refundable at the end of the course. Many books we get from library but some books we had to purchase on our own.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships are generally offered to students who come from underprivileged category and as per govt regulations.
Campus Life
Except in mechanical branch, every course has good gender ratio. Campus life was good. Classes were spread such that we used to get enough time for gym and sports activities. Students from abroad were also admitted so it was a mixed culture short of thing. Students had no problem mixing with each other as hostel was same and no discrimination on caste or religion or statehood was allowed.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels were provided to all and used to change on yearly basis. Hostel for 1st year was on twin sharing basis but from 2nd year onwards, hostels were single room per student. Rooms were comfortable and everything was in order. Every hostel has seperate mess facility. Mess offered daily different foods. Food was tasty.
Exam Structure
Courses were distributed in semesters and BE course consists of 8 semesters. We had to do industrial training of 2 months during summer vacations which was also a part of our curriculum. We had 1 project to offer in our final semester.
Faculty
Teachers were knowledgeable and many had written books which were famous in that part of the world. They supported in assignments and projects and encouraged us to take projects on topics which were famous worldwide. Teachers were also available after the classes and it was very amiable environment.
