Remarks

Good - good faculties, well behaved faculties, Theory based good education, Nice education environment, rich surrounding etc. Bad- lack of practical education, deficiency of labs, low placement in core branches, Hard to score good result. Bring the required documents to the college office & it will be granted it's very easy. Great placement Opportunities.

I love field of study & want to know more. 15:1 is the faculty Ratio. Everyone is highly qualified and most of them have PhD. They are very polite & student friendly. Every exam is taken according to time and papers are very moderate so if you study hard you will get good marks.

There are many companies gives opportunity for internship TCS, AMAZON, Capgemini, Cognizant. We most likely to have works on Front end, Back end developers, software developers, Web development. There are many other fields too.

7th Semester .There are many companies visited our college for placement honorable mentions are BOSCH, TCS, CTS Last year the highest package was 35LPA. In my department it's 90% Would like get a job in a IT company.

Fees and Financial Aid

Taking everything into account we have to pay 14000 per semester in our particular department . There are many scholarships available even our gives a scholarship named FFS & HFS in this scholarship applicable candidates will get fully of half free tuition fees.

Campus Life

We have a social get together event on February-March period name JECLAT & in AUG-SEP we organize our Freshers event . Almost every book of particular field is available in the library. There are many clubs like Jyoti, Photography Club, Dancers Club, Music club, SAAC etc.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
