IIM Visakhapatnam - The Sunrise IIM

I had a startup idea in my mind and wanted to pursue an MBA to get better knowledge about how business works as a whole. As I received offers from several colleges, I went for IIM V as it has incubation center to nurture startup ideas and provides seed fund to starting up and execute the idea.

The course curriculum is designed in such a way that every student get knowledge and learn basic aspects of all the business domain and then term 3 onwards they get to select electives based on their interest. Some of the Faculties here are from old IIMs and XLRI, ISB etc and are maestro in their own field. Faculty-student ratio is approx 1:10 in IIM V.

Along with many brands like Deloitte, MTR, 4tigo, Outlook, Yes bank as a recruiter, Sureti IMF like startups also visits the campus to hire interns. All the students were placed in one or other companies for their summer internship with an average stipend of 62 thousand and the highest stipend being 2lakh.

IIM V has achieved 100% placements since its inception, be it Finals or Summers. Yeas bank, MTR, KPMG, Deloitte, GMR, Uber are few of the prominent recruiters including many startups offering lucrative Job roles. The highest package offered last year was 23 lakh with an average package of 13lakh.

1540000 is the fee for the entire course of 2 years which is a two-year residential program. So, hostel and mess fees are included in the total fees. You will get loans easily from the banks based on the just an offer letter. Scholarships are also provided to needy people.

Campus life is very vibrant here. Every week, every day there will be something new, be in workshops, seminars, guest lectures business conclaves or any extracurricular activities and various cultural fests and sports events, and all these are along with your regular academic work. Samaarambh is the annual cultural fest and Sangram is inter IIM sports competition organized at the institute. Vriddhi is the flagship event organized by the business cluster at the institute.

The hostel has fully AC rooms with double occupancy and having basic amenities. Mess food is of top quality and menu has different cosines and variety of options for all 3 meals in a day. Menu is designed keeping in mind that students come here from different parts of India.

SOP writing is necessary and needs to be submitted along with the application form. Then, If you have received calls from IIM A,B,C or any top IIMs (mentioned in the admission process of IIMV), you need not appear for an interview separately for IIMV, rather interview score of IIM A,B,C is taken into consideration for the further evaluation otherwise interview is conducted by the institute and then based on overall performance, offer is rolled out.
