NMIMS School of Hospitality Management is just so amazing!! NMIMS School of Hospitality Management provides quality education and amazing infrastructure. The faculty and staff are experienced and have deep roots in the field that they teach in. I am proud to be a student of this prestigious college and to be mentored by highly experienced faculty members. School of Hospitality Management is not only limited to hotel management but also gives the students exposure in other fields like cruise, aviation, retail, and event management. The college has a restaurant, kitchen, guest rooms, baking room for practical training. Every student is mentored by one faculty. The admission process and requirements are very well detailed on the college website and are easy to follow. Results are also declared online.

I chose this course because of my passion to travel and explore new countries and experience their unique cultures. This course is indeed intense and one needs to have the determination and dedication to put in long hours of work. The college does not tolerate any misbehavior and in case they find any wrong doing strict action is taken against the students. The faculty and student ratio is 1:10. All the faculty are highly qualified in this field. The faculty are very approachable and their experiences inspire and motivate us to perform well. The faculty conducts surprise quizzes on which the students are graded. The students get enough revisions and time to prepare for their examinations. The exams are tough and one needs to regularly revise the subjects and concepts taught.

6 months internship in the industry is part of the curriculum. Students have multiple options for this stint depending on their interest and opportunities available in the hotel, cruise, airlines, retail industries. The various companies that offer internships are some of the big hotel chains like the Taj, Oberois, etc as well as leading retail brands. Once the internship is over the students have to submit a detailed report to the college regarding their experience and what they learned.

The campus placements start after the 3rd year. Big Hotel chains like the Taj, Oberois, Sofitel etc conduct campus interviews. As this course has been recently started there is no information regarding the package details. The college does its level best to give the students good campus placements but in the end, it depends on the students how well they perform in the interviews.

The course is for 3 years and the average fees is 6.5 lakhs for the entire duration. For campus jobs, various top hotel chains , retail brands etc come to college to conduct interviews. There is a fee hike of approx. 5-10% .

NMIMS School of Hospitality management has top-class facilities. The college has a well-equipped Restaurant, Kitchen, Bar, Bakery and rooms for housekeeping practical. The college makes learning fun and challenging for its students. The college gives equal importance to the holistic development of the students. The holds a quality cafeteria, sports room, music room, Multipurpose practice rooms, gymnasium, auditorium, locker room for students and much more. Various committees and clubs have been formed like music, dance, literature, hiking as well as Rotaract club.

interview

The admission process last year consisted of a personal interview with one faculty and one external examiner from the industry. The student has to be aware of current affairs, why he/she wants to join this college, and also handle some situational questions. It's fairly rigorous. The dress code is formal. I prepared myself with the help of my parents to handle mock interviews. After the interview, the results are announced online in a day or two. Students must pass with minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 or equivalent, across all streams.
