Remarks
The main reason behind joining this college is that only a few colleges have the provision of studying Chemical Engineering under WBUT in Bengal. Pros- Good infrastructure & labs with ample instruments present Great Campus with Canteen facility The library has a wide range of books required for students during their respective courses Teachers are also very professional Cons- A little away from the main city, on NH6 The curriculum followed is of MAKAUT(WBUT) which is hardly updated Admission Procedure- A proper rank in WBJEE/AIEEE and a decent percentage in 12th boards are enough to get admission. Reason- A chemical engineering stream is available.
Course Curriculum Overview
Faculty students ratio is about- 10:2. All faculties have a Masters level and higher qualifications. Every year consists of two semesters (mid sem & end sem) and in between, there are CA's (continuous assessments).
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester onwards students are usually eligible for campus placements. Some of the well known companies that have visited our college include- Infosys, IBM, Berger Paints etc. From previous year records it is seen that the higest package received is more than 10Lpa and the lowest package received is about 1.5Lpa. Every year almost 80% of students are placed from the college itself. Rest 15% get offers from off campus drives and the remaining 5% tend to go for higher studies. I am primarily focused on getting a job after completion of my degree to gather some real world experiences.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are approximately 35000 per semester. There is no fees hike policy as of now. Any engineering course will cost approximately 4lakhs for 8semesters. There are ample scholarships available from both government & nongovernmental organizations that can be availed while admission.
Campus Life
A huge campus of over 72acres with the county side setting is perfect for students to have a fresh mind while studying and learning. Our curriculum is a very diverse one that has ample provisions for extracurricular activities. Teachers day is a huge event in our college and it is celebrated in a humongous manner. With all engineering depts coming together for the cause, this event turns out to be the showstopper of the year. The month of August usually is spent on all the preparations and the 4th of September is a festive day for the students, and also for the teachers. Our library has the most effective collection of books including subject books and reference books, so there's no complaint about that. Some of the extracurricular activities include:- - Tree plantation programme - Virtual Labs - NPTEL Course learning from IITs - Blood donation camp etc
Interview Experience
Usually, during admission, a PI is a must. The interview mainly is of a very open nature and deals with the reasons why a student wants to pursue a particular field. Some questions include:- 1) What made you want to be a chemical engineer? 2) What do you understand about chemical engineering? 3) Some board level questions may also be asked depending on the person taking the interview. There is nothing to prepare separately for these rounds but a little awareness about their particular stream of choice is enough.
