My college tour

After the completion of my diploma in electronics trade, I wanted to switch my domain to computer science as this is nowadays in demand. I opted for direct admissions in BBD because it is the most prominent college in the city. I read multiple reviews of this college then finally made my decision. I called the management booked a date for my enrollment, went to the university with all my documents and filled the admission form. Payed some amount of total fee and joined the course. This whole process took 2 days only.

I chose this stream because it is the demand of the future. Also, I am very much inclined towards coding. The student-faculty ratio is phenomenal, there's a teacher for every 30 students. The whole curriculum is already pre-scheduled and the scheduler is handed over to all the students on the very first day of college. Though I was a lateral student I never felt laid back. Everything was done on time, from practice tests to internals and finally the semesters.

The college has incorporated the internship facility as well. Proper training and industrial experiences are given to the students before appearing for placements in the final year. Companies like HCL, Internshala, Fundamakers provide internships to all the students every year. During the internship period, students work on various projects which are related to real-world problems and they try to generate a negotiable Solution to it.

After the 6th semesters, we are eligible to sit in placements. Placements include simple process, aptitude, GD, interview. Since I'm not yet eligible for placements I don't have any experience. But according to stats every year 80-90% of students are placed in good organizations with decent packages. Companies like Infosys, Jaro, Myntra are partnering with the college in order to provide more and more opportunities to the student. The highest and lowest packages observed yet are 21 LPA and 4 LPA. My plan is also the same, I'll try to grab a good placement by on-campus placements.

The fee hike policies are very diligent and fragile. Every 4th year a small fraction of the current fee is increased by the management. Consent of every member of the educational group is taken before doing anything. The college gives relaxation in fee to students from weaker financial backgrounds. And rewards all the meritorious students with a scholarship every year. Every eligible student also enrols for state scholarship application along with the support of the college management and every year about 90% of students do get scholarships.

College life at BBD is like a dream come true. The campus is amazing and well maintained. There are 5 colleges in the BBD BBD educational group. Huge libraries, labs and all other facilities are provided. Every year our college fest "Utkarsh" is celebrated at the end of Feb and the beginning of March. Several colleges from the state are invited to participate in the fest. All curricular activities like dramatics, singing, dancing, sports etc are included in this program. The fest happens for 3 days followed by a celebrity night in the college. These fests are amazing opportunities to shine ourselves out from the crowd. Dedicated social clubs like Rangbhoomi, Epica, Aarambh etc are formed in order to promote such activities.

I opted for a 2 seater hostel i.e just 2 students in one room. The fees are 95000, it is a little extra but the facilities provided by the college do justify the money. The hostel room consists of a study table, a bed and a cupboard for every student. 2-3 water cooling machines in a single corridor for filling water bottles. An array of toilets and bathrooms on both the ends of a corridor. A garden in between the hostel building. The registration process is short and simple, submit your admission form copy and enrol for hostel facilities. The menu consists of a variety of dishes depending upon the season and day. During festivals like Navratri special food for fasters is also provided.
