Remarks
The main reason of rejecting other two colleges and joining Jamia was that Jamia is Central University. The second primary reason for joining Jamia was that I got my preferred branch here (Computer Engineering). My admission was confirmed on 16th August,2016 with a spot round and the selection criteria was on the basis of marks in JEE Mains (which was 155/360). I had researched about the college through previously answered questions (on Quora website) regarding the college (weather the faculty and infrastructure of college is of standard or not etc) .
Course Curriculum Overview
Due to my interest in coding since high school days ,I wanted to get a Computer degree when I was growing up and as the opportunity knocked through Jamia, I grabbed it with both hands. The faculty: student ratio was roughly 1:15 .The faculty was highly qualified and had attended premier institutes of India as well as abroad. The teaching method was also of a good standard. The mid-term exams(Sessionals) were timely and according to the dates mentioned in the Academic Calender provided before the start of the Academic year. The exams required deep understanding of topics to score good marks, meaning if somebody didn't prepare well for them, their grades were affected at the end of the semester.
Internships Opportunities
No , the campus didn't provide any internship opportunity for us, neither did i do any internship, although when i was placed, I did go through a training period of 6 months at the company which I was placed , which can be referred to as internship. The internship period consists of basic upskilling for development roles for software industry requirements and it did include development projects.
Placement Experience
From 6th semester, the students are eligible for a placement.Given below is the list below offered for Software Development profilesCompanies Visited - Offers made Wipro -25TCS - 12UHG- 12Springboard -3Comviva -8Innovacer-4Apisero -2Newgen-8OYO- 10Samsung R&D- 12
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is already very good and is designed keeping lower middle class families in mind. We had to pay yearly academic fee of 8k and the campus hostel fee annually was around 24k. This too, had scholarship offers for students belonging to EWS (50% scholarship on academic fee).A 100% scholarship was also given to Top 5 students of every branch. The placements had been great ever since we joined the college. Though the college placement cell didn't provide any sort of internship opportunities to students. The placement cell did provide campus placement opportunities with more than decent paying jobs.
Campus Life
The Annual fest the Faculty of Engineering& Technology of Jamia Millia Islamia University is known as Mehfil-e-jamia. The fest is usually conducted around October-November.The library is very good, literally you name any book and it is available there. The class infra structure is above par and are well furnished and are centrally air-conditioned.Some societies run by Students of Jamia Are- ASCE- Jamia Chapter, CSI-JMI, Hashes -A coding club of Jamia, CIE-JMI, SAE-JMI.Intra Faculty and Inter-faculty sports contests are organised annually in the month of February. The sports included are cricket, football, Table Tennis, Badminton.
Admission
No written test , no interview , no GD for the admission to this college. The admission was solely on the basis of the score in JEE Mains and had a cutoff percentage of XII Boards of 60%. This was the only criteria. The branches were offered on the basis of merit (JEE Mains score). As there was no GD/PI rounds for admission, so basically we didn't really had to prepare for these. Just gave the JEE Mains exam, got a decent score, and got admission in the program.
