Remarks
I've been in St. Andrews College for 2 years now and have 3 more to go. I really liked the faculty of both the junior and degree college. There are many activities offered from sports to singing, acting and dancing to our course related activities. There is a huge campus with a basketball and volleyball court. The professor's too are very good.
Entrance Preview
I chose a simple BCOM degree after doing commerce in junior college at St. Andrews itself. There was no entrance exam as such. The marks of our HSC examination was the cut off for the different streams. I scored an 80.46% in my HSC exam. I had the option of choosing from a lot of courses like BMS , BAF , BBI ,BMM and many more but I liked the broad scope of subject offered in BCOM. BCOM covers all the topics and has a small part of the other streams too. So I made the decision to choose BCOM because it gives me more options in the future.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course I.e BCOM is a wide study of commerce in general which I find very important. Because in every study a strong base is essential and that's what BCOM offers. We have subjects that will surely help us later on.
Internships Opportunities
Yes our college provides internships. Being only in my first year I don't know a lot about the internships, but from my knowledge it is compulsory for some courses in their second year. There are good companies that have on campus interviews
Placement Experience
Again I don't know much as I'm a fresher but I do know of my friend's sister who after doing BAF , got in to J.P. Morgan for an internship from the on campus interviews.
College Events
There are a lot of events in the college. There is the big events like the dance competition called Jhankaar, the singing competition called intune, the acting and play competition called olio that's happens every year and is at an inter college level. But there is a lot of other sports related inter class and inter college events that takes place too. There are many more fests that take place almost everyday, from commerce related events to arts and science events . There is a lot of participants for all of the sports and extra curricular activities.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees for my course since it is government aided is much more inexpensive than others. Mine being approx ₹5000 for BCOM and BA. While the other courses are self aided and are for approximately ₹18000.
Fees and Financial Aid
I've not availed of any scholarships but there are many.
Campus Life
There is huge diversity in the campus. And any association in our college that support different causes like inter religious group, economics association, accounts association, French association, English association, Nature club and many more.
Hostel Facilities
There are no hostels. The canteen food is very good and the canteen has recently been expanded. There is a wide variety of food, different cuisines and affordable prices.
Alumni/Alumna
As I am a fresher I don't know much about the alumni or senior student's activities.
Exam Structure
The exams are now university based and hence are more chilled out as compared to before. The exams are per semester and the papers are set by the university of Mumbai. But corrected in the respective college.
Faculty
The subjects offered for first year are the general subjects we learned the basics in junior college. The faculty is more student friendly than other colleges that I've heard of. The teacher are qualified and actually take an interest in teaching us. But that's only the majority. Some teachers are not all as good as the others and don't teach well.
