NIST: A community for smarts

I applied to this college because it was providing tons of opportunities at a considerable price and was closer to my hometown. There was an admission criteria for securing decent marks in the OJEE entrance exam through which I was able to join. Regarding marks, a student should have minimum pass marks in all subjects for reserving a seat in the college. There is no minimum requirement for age

I choose the course as I had some interest in computer hardware and stuff. I applied for it because it had a great scope in the industry and I was choosing my passion. Faculty-student ratio is around 1:60. Faculty members were well qualified and talented. Most of the faculty are postgraduates or Professors. They really help a lot in clearing all our doubts. And student environment is decent and competitive. You will see a variety of students from across the states. Teaching methods are usually with a blackboard or a smartboard. And the labs are well equipped with the instruments and devices required for practical understanding of concepts. Semesters are average and sometimes difficult. An average student can secure easily pass marks but for distinction grades, students have to work hard.

Various internship opportunities are provided by the college. Companies offering internships are: Tata, Verzeo, ZeroCode, FamPay, Pepper Content, etc. Positions include:- Business development intern, Product Design Intern, Graphic Design Intern, Content Creator, etc. There's an opportunity to grab a seat in their respective companies for performing well with their projects and for the enthusiasm to learn new things.

From the end of the 3rd year, students are eligible for the campus placements drive. Various companies have visited. The top company visits are- Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meil, TCS, Western Digital, Highest Package by Amazon - 28LPA in CSE branch Next highest Package by Western Digital - 18LPA in ECE branch 85% percent of students are placed in the campus recruitments My aim is to start a startup in the future after I graduate.

The fees structure is not so expensive. A student having financial difficulties can enrol in this college with the number of fees provided by it. Fees:- for B.Tech course - 100000/year For MBA- 150000/- for 2 years For M. Tech - 150000/- for 2 years Numerous scholarships are available under the college and government schemes as well. I didn't take any financial assistance because my family was financially sound. I am still a sophomore and looking forward to the job opportunities provided by NIST.

Every year there is an annual fest held at the college. Usually, in the 2nd or 3rd month of the year, the college holds an annual fest for two days called SANKALP. In this fest, various events are technical and related to science and non-technical as well. These events are usually fun and whoever wins will be rewarded with a money prize. There is a library situated in the college with the availability of a variety of branch related books(technical). Also, various literature books of authors for extensive reading like Chetan Bharat, JK Rowling, etc. are available for passionate readers. Classrooms are pretty big in size. Usually able to accommodate 60 students per class and each classroom is equipped with virtual boards. In the case of sports, there are various sports tournaments conducted at college among the seniors and juniors like Cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis, etc. Also, Trekking and picnics are organized. Many clubs include Excel, Multimedia, Robotics, Cloud Computing, etc.
