Remarks

I had applied for BTech colleges after 12th but I went to pursue my interest and hence I decided to get admitted to St. Stephen's College, Delhi university. Various cut off lists were released based on the 12th board marks. Our college offers 50% reservation to Christian students. In the year 2018 cut off for my course was 97% in PCM. Then all those who managed to clear cut off were called for an interview. The interview was an amazing experience and the senior chemistry faculty took it. After interviewing all final list of 54 students was released with some getting residence (college hostel).

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The college has a teacher-student ratio of 1:9. The faculty is highly qualified and the overall growth of students is given a lot of importance. Teachers are knowledgeable and they help us in achieving our future endeavours. The syllabus is completed almost a week before the semester end and an ample amount of time is given for revision and doubt solving. Labs and practicals are given equal importance and regular checking is done.

Internships Opportunities

0.5

There are ample internship opportunities coming in throughout the year. Startups, NGOs and renowned companies hire students for positions like content developer, analyst, associates, interns, marketing finance etc. Some companies are Doubtnut, Chegg, Younity, etc.

Placement Experience

3

We have a campus placement cell that handles all the companies coming in for placements and internships. It is active throughout and we have internships coming in all year round. In third year we become eligible for placements. CPC verfies our resume or CV in various steps and then they are sent to companies we are interested in. We have interviews then if we are selected we are informed. The placement ratio and the packages are good. I'm going for masters at IITD through IIT JAM.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee is a little high as compared to other colleges in Delhi University which is unreasonable. The facilities at college residence though are excellent. The tuition fee is just Rs 90 but including other fees, it gets more than Rs 25,000 per semester excluding mess and hostel fee. I did not get any scholarship but college offers a lot of them to students from economically weak background like 'Tiara' and 'Sumitomo'. I did not sit for placements as I was planning to go for masters.

Campus Life

2.5

Harmony is the annual college fest. It is a close fest so only Stephania's are allowed. It is a 3-day fest which includes fun activities, performances, gala night etc. It is usually conducted in the first week of March. The library here is very good and you can almost find every book here if not there's a provision to add a book. If the librarian after consultation feels the book is required for the course they order it. Classrooms have wooden benches which are uncomfortable sometimes. Classrooms are air-conditioned. Sports facilities are good. There's a college gym with badminton and squash courts. Basketball and football with the disc are very popular.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The hostel facility is good but a little overpriced. We have 3 blocks each for boys and girls. A common room having board games, table tennis, football, TV etc. Mess serves good hygienic food. The students and teachers living in residence have the same food so food quality is kept in check. Day scholars can purchase coupons for meals if they want to have them in college mess. The menu has all kinds of dishes so it doesn't get boring. Hostel facilities include 24/7 hot water geysers, a microwave per block 10-12 people share a washroom having 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets. It is high priced as compared to other colleges. We have to apply for residence on the college website every year. I was in college residence in my 2nd year. In 1st year I was in pg near Vishwa Vidyalaya metro station. Kamla Nagar, Roop Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Vijay Nagar, GTB Nagar or Timarpur area are nearby places you can get a PG or a flat in.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
