Remarks
I had joined the institute through management quota since I did my 12th in Kerala and wasn't eligible for counseling in Tamil Nadu at that time. I had 78.6% in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics consolidated which was above the eligibility criteria of 60%. The admission through management quota was based on the availability of seats in the department opted and upon meeting the eligibility marks criteria.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the Department of Aeronautical Engineering as I personally had a passion for flying objects from my childhood. The Aeronautical team at Hindusthan Institute of Technology has a student-to-faculty ratio of 7 per batch which I felt was good enough. The faculty was well qualified and the teaching was good. We studied the 2018 regulation of Anna University Chennai during our period of 2011-15. The internal exams were conducted in the right manner and were at a moderate difficulty level.
Internships Opportunities
1. Vaayusastra Aerospace, IIT Madras; 2. Jet Aerospace; 3. Sigma Consultancies Pvt. Ltd, Coimbatore; and, 4. IIT Kanpur, are some of the organizations that support the institute in offering internship opportunities for 3rd year and final-year students. The projects assigned to the students are based on their area of interest and they are trained to work on several tools in experimental studies as well as computational studies.
Placement Experience
Students are encouraged and trained for placement interviews and exams from the second year of their bachelor's studies. Many core companies like Tech Mahindra, L&T Infotech, Cognizant, etc visit the institute annually to recruit a significant number of students. According to my knowledge, the average annual package ranged from 3 lakhs to 4.5 lakhs per annum. The placement percentage was 90%. Personally, I was interested in continuing my studies and I enrolled for M.E in Aeronautical Engineering at the Park College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore in the year 2015.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure remained constant through my study period at the institute i.e., 2011-15. The course materials were shared in the class and we didn't have the need to buy new books as required books and materials were available at the institute library. I didn't avail any scholarship or financial assistance during the period.
Campus Life
The college annual day function was conducted every year with many cultural activities like singing, dancing, and mime performances. This allowed students to showcase their talent in different areas. Books and journals were at sufficient availability in the institute library. Students had the right to request for new books to be added to the library. Classrooms were well-equipped with a blackboard and projector for engaging activities and teaching-learning. Sports activities were much encouraged. We had Hockey, Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and few indoor games for the students. A gym facility was also available.
