Remarks

In our year I can remember<110 rankers of WBJEE got CSE , ETCE cutoff rank was about 320, Electrical was about 600-650, 1000 for mechanical and so on, the admission process was smooth according to counselling results, we had initially 3 counselling then a mop up round through wejee portal and a decentralised counselling too.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Faculty members are ok, to be honest really not good at all, We've approximately 25 faculty members as per I can remember and among 4 years and 300+ students, within which 6-7 professors are really good and you will eventually find their classes interesting, but rest of all are boring. Laboratory facilities are decent, we've always seen a delay in publishing exam results. Exams aren't that hard, if you cope up with what is taught in your class as well as the previous year's question papers you can easily pass with a decent gpa. We have 2 internal exams each of 30 marks from which 50% that is(30+30)/2= 30 + end sem exam of 70 marks are evaluated. For laboratory, it's also of 100 marks 20 for attendance+ 50 for lab reports+ 30 for viva.

Internships Opportunities

2

Internship opportunities are really less compared to FTE opportunities, you can do projects under university professors or under professors of IITs , also ISRO, DRDO come to our campus for internships.

Placement Experience

2.5

From the 5th sem companies start coming to campus, for internship and on the 7th sem for full time roles you can apply, though most of the companies are related to coding and all, they mostly restrict it to CSE, ECE, IT. The numbers of companies visited are going less year by year, more than 80% of CSE , IT guys gets placed every year in average 30% gets dream package, for other departments the numbers are really scarring.

Fees and Financial Aid

Taking part in counselling through wbjee portal you're charged rs.5000, upon taking admission to Jadavpur University it only charges rs 710 for the first 2 years and for 3rd and 4th year rs 2450 each, a total around 11000 rupees, which is the cheapest around the world I guess. Also, there's a scholarship provided here if you're family income is below 2.5 LPA, fees that are rs. 10000 will be given back. If you get an internship you'll be earning 20k-80k / month for 2 months and for job it maybe average of 5-6 lpa I guess.

Campus Life

5

Multiple fests are conducted, srijan is the annual tech fest, which is so much famous, also different departments arrange their fests which are decent. Annual tech fest is really something else, I can't express my feelings really. Whenever we have a boring class we go to the ground and have a couple of cricket or football matches. We've 2 libraries one is departmental which is sufficient for us , also there is a central library with Lacs of collections. You can join a numerous clubs according to your interest, sports club, science club, code club, debate, drama, dance, photography club and so on.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
