Gives more than expected, One of the best college of DU + Affordable

I filled the forms of DU in June 2020. In October, the first cutoff list was released for admissions and I checked my score according to that and I ended up with two colleges Hansraj & Sri Venkateswara College but I chose Venky because it is the shorter route from my house. I applied for Sri Venkateswara College from my DU login ID and opted for BSC Maths. For BSc Maths, the cutoff was about 93% (Best Four) so I was eligible with 94% (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English). Within 2 days my request for admission was confirmed by the Principal after which I had to pay my first-year fee of Rs 13805 and my admission was confirmed. In November, I was added to the college's WhatsApp group and got my MS team's ID and classes began. I think my college admission process was very nice.

I opted for Bsc Maths because after my 12th result I was researching for a UG course and I concluded that Bsc Maths suits me better than other bachelor courses. There are about 7-8 faculty in the Department of Mathematics in which there's Deepti Mam, Anirban Sir, Neelesh Sir, and others. Due to the Covid situation, classes are online and on Ms teams, because of that, there are 130+ students in Bsc maths of 2020. The batch is divided into two sections and each section has about 70 students. So, 1 faculty on 70 students at a time. If I talk about the qualifications of the faculty, most of them have done their Master's degree and 5 - 6 yrs teaching experience. They are very polite in conversation with students and have a helping nature. Their teaching style is good and if you're having trouble in studies and ask them for any doubts, they are gonna surely help you. There are semester exam which is conducted in OBE mode and not that hard if you prepare well and also there are assignments and tests conducted by faculty for internal assessment.

International MUN Flames (Dating startup):- Campus Ambassador NGO's like Aashman foundation Shine Projects for Financial markets combo workshop, and much more internships. There are internships and workshops for every student including an attractive stipend. For an idea, a project for digital marketing, you will get 4000 rupees in a month for advertising for that firm on a platform like FB in two months.

From the first semester, you are eligible for internship or placements but chances of getting a good internship depend upon your practical knowledge & skills. There are mostly local companies and a few big brands that visit for placements and internships like Bajaj, Ashok Leyland, etc. I heard that the no. of students getting placed is high, but getting a high package is a little bit tough. The average package is 2.4 lac/yr and highest up to 9 lacs/yr, but you will get your best if you do hard work. Most of the students go for higher studies after the UG program rather than getting placed. Some go abroad for their higher studies.

Fees Hike:- If you look at last year's annual fees, they're almost constant so there is no need to worry much about the fees hike. It is a govt-funded college so you can expect that fees will surely be less in comparison to private colleges. if you want to do a BSc Maths course from a reputed college like LPU and Sri Venkateswara. To pursue BSc(H) Maths from LPU you have to pay approx. 1.4 lac/yr ( 11666 monthly ) and in Sri Venkateswara approx.13800/yr ( 1150 monthly ) but you have to semester exam fees which are around 900 rupees. There are scholarships for 1.PWD (require PWD certificate ) 2.EWS(requires income certificate and caste reservation certificate if applicable ) 3.Parents lost due to covid (100% fees concession)

Due to the Covid situation, all fests are conducted online for now and the frequency of fests is also reduced but if the situation improves then Sri Venkateswara holds one of the biggest annual fests of south DU Campus which is NEXUS. NEXUS is held in Feb every year and there are many events are organized like freshers parties, magic shows, etc. Venky had a very huge playground which is great for sports. cricket is one of the famous sport in Venky and there lot more activities like running, basketball, football, etc. There are social group and clubs by student:- The Placement Cell Nritya( dance ) Alaap (Music) NOC(Nerds of comedy) Boolean (Tech) and there are a lot more groups for different activities(reading, debate).
