Remarks

As soon as the first cut off was out, I got 4 colleges which were Kamala Nehru, Gargi, Shaheed Bhagat Singh and DCAC, I chose Shaheed Bhagat Singh because of the decent environment and top notch faculty it has. Also, I was more comfortable with attending a Co-ed institution. Well, I'm not saying the other colleges were bad, it's just I had to choose the best and I did. The admission criteria were meeting the cut off requirements released by the college and if you're availing any quota, which is OBC in my case, you need to show the correct and original documents. If you are trying to avail of the sports Quota, you need to have the documents which make you eligible and also there's a sports trial involved for the selection. Besides that, there's no PI or GD round for the admission process. There's also no counselling involved. It's a pretty smooth and less chaotic admission process just like any other DU college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose to pursue BCom prog since I didn't have maths in 12th so I wasn't able to get into Bcom Hons. I was also a CA aspirant and the best thing about Bcom prog is that its syllabus matches CA's syllabus. So it wasn't a very hard task to get both the courses done simultaneously. The faculty is very Cooperative and has the utmost knowledge of their subjects. The best thing is they cooperate with the students who are preparing for professionals courses or even government exams. Also, they motivate us to excel in those exams and are extremely cooperative when it comes to attendance or rigid deadlines of internals. The semester exams were conducted timely and the syllabus was always completed before the deadline. Even the internals was conducted on time and pretty smoothly.

Internships Opportunities

4

Well, numerous start-ups show their interest in hiring interns from our college. Profiles such as the content creators, digital marketers, social media marketing, HR interns, campus ambassadors, PR interns, sales and marketing etc were offered by various startups and even the well known names such as Urban company, unschool, metvy etc. Most of them were paid Internships which got the stipend ranging from Rs 5000-10000 per month. They usually hire for 3-6 months and, working with them give them insights into a professional working environment. The tasks of marketing profiles are to help the company increase its reach, Hr interns need to show their recruitment skills by hiring prospective candidates, Digital marketers are required to use their marketing skills and helping the brand grow digitally and social media marketing is all about handling the social media accounts of the brand and helping it grow more.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for placements from the fourth semester. The college has an amazing placement cell which has shown their excellent performance by bringing 25+ new companies on our campus as compared to the last year. Even in covid times, they succeeded in bringing such new and highly talked companies such as DE Shaw, Bain and company, Grant Thornton etc. The highest package which was offered last year was for 21 lakhs. Various profiles from a financial analyst, Article Assistant, Audit and Assurance, Junior analyst etc were offered. All the students who get enrolled in placement drives have a 71% higher chance of getting placed. Among the students who got enrolled, 65% were successfully placed. My plans after getting the degree are to work as an article assistant in one of the reputed firms.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are pretty affordable. My first year fees were Rs10000 for the entire year, it gradually decreases and if you have availed any quota, your fees are likely to be less than that of a general category student. My college does provide the financial aid but it depends on the financial background of the student and also they need to show documents like income statement to avail the benefit. The placements cell of the college provides various internship opportunities during the course. It provides both paid and unpaid opportunities and it's pretty easy to grab them. I myself did few internships that were provided by our placement cell. Not just placement cells, the college got tons of Society who keeps rolling out several internship opportunities now and then.

Campus Life

4.5

Du is known for its fest and my college is pretty famous for its annual Commerce fest organised by Commerce association. There are tons of societies and each society works very hard to organise the most talked about the fest and leaves no stones unturned from making it a big success. The college has a huge library comprising of 2 floors and it has got everything that you'll need regarding your course, research projects or even fiction. It has got such diversity in the collection of books that you'll want to spend your entire day in the library. It's one of my favourite spots to spend time. The classrooms are spacious enough as compared to the class size. The college is known for its NCC unit. It has got 20+ societies varying from commerce to fashion to dance to dramatics to entrepreneurship. The dance society of the college is well known for its achievements and awards in various institutions including IIT Bombay. There are social clubs such as the Rotaract club as well in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well i choose this course because I didn't got what I wanted. Many students are from arts background who got this course because they had no option. The curriculum is same as school all chapters and everything. The law section is new. About buisness and law and everything. Rest is same. Changes in curriculum is not in their hands. But if they could actually change the accounting syllabus. The timing of exams is normal 2:30 to 6:30. And internal test taken by perspective teacher are according to their time and class. They will take retest incase you didn't attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I really was interested in finance and taxation from the beginning. This course aligned rightly with my interests. The curriculum is based on real world applications. Corporate accounting, financial accounting, company law, human resource management, these are very important considering change in the job market and business world. Not only real world applications but one can also go for further academic pursuit such as a master's degree and research. This makes the curriculum really diverse. Some areas of suggestions would be that in theory subjects there should be practical activities. Just like vestibular training. The time of exams is just right. After the completion of syllabus of a particular subject, we are given 10 days of preparation leave. The exams are moderate and it really tests our ability and knowledge based on our studies.

Average package is 10 LPA. Most of the placements take place in consulting, marketing, auditing, finance and analyst roles. Around more than 50% of the students get placed. My plan is to take placements in consulting and finance roles after the degree from the college.

The placement of my college is good if you perform well in the process of selection, as I told earlier, the placement cell is pretty active, so you would have a good number of options. I will be naming the good companies that visited my college, they were EY, Deloitte, DE SHAW, TCS, KPMG, etc. Numerous offers were made and I would say over 80% students in my batch got placed in good companies.

In open learning management.. they provide hard copy of books tk prepare whole semester and this is a very good thing because those books are covering whole semester in some books only and there is a v good thing I found... At the end of every chapter they provide summaries and mock questions for every chapter to analyse the weakness and strength. the areas for improvements in the Course Curriculum and Teaching Methods--- they should also provide a mock test paper as per the paper model and latest questions or updated topics with to the point topics The difficulty is normal if candidate is completely prepared...
